Default HELCYON!! I didnt know you played guitar!!!

Before I begin, anyone who reads this may chime in and share their musical instrument they play.

I read your profile, and saw that you liked Jackson guitars in particular.
I'm partial to Ibanez BUT Jackson's are usually prefered to ones who shred speed metal. USUALLY, there are acceptions.

Chime in with your musical playing preferences... and stuff.

To a lesser extent.... I have drums set up (they are Rogers but my fav. is Yamaha).... no keyboards myself presently (I like Korg).

The computer and hardware sampling/sequencing/recording is starting to ramp up a bit. I dabble with Reason and Live and a few others plus I have a sampler (Akai). If I had a Mac then Logic would be nice but I don't.

I know good co-collaborators which is importantly helpful. There are a couple of projects and directions floating around that need prioritisation. "Other" career became important but music production/performance are on a short list to get re-happening - thinking positive!! I will re-post when I have some links to new stuff that's imo worthwhile.

Reason and live are prety much all I use. I used to play bass and sing, well... scream in a death metal band long time ago. Back then I had custom Gibbson guitar with Fender precision bass body and one wood piece neck with neat head. But only zoom 606 for a sound processor. We playd mostly covers and some own 10 sec songs

Now it's mostly all sorts of electronic music I do. Unfortunately only for hobby.

Check one of my favourite songs that never got finished

I play guitar, bass (was in Meatjack here in MD a long time ago), and dabble with recording and programing. I have Mackie traction on my system, but still need a keyboards for triggering. Reason is a fun program, but it sucks that you can't record any other analog signals.

I cant wait til DB sees this thread. He knows all the recording, and mixing stuff, thats where I go blank.

    I used to play bass...
DB can burn one up! Thats what he was doing when we met, he was playing a cover of Leader of The Band, (how prophetic... right?)
I couldnt resist him, I have a sweet tooth for musicians...
BUT he just had the something, I always felt I was, but never accomplished, however I found myself whole, as wel joined together, my strengths overshadowed his weakness, and vice versa

I have a Gretsch Maple Renown kit, with a 22" bass and four toms (three mounted, one floor) as well as a vintage Slingerland floor tom, which I may someday replace with the Gretsch model.

I have a PDP popcorn snare and a Pork Pie Squealer snare.

The hi-hats are Zildjian K series, with Sabian Paragon 17" and Vault 19" crashes, as well as a ZHT Titanium rock ride. I also have a Sabian O-Zone 10" splash, and a Joey Jordinson model cowbell.

The bass pedals are Pearl Eliminator double bass.

I do okay on the drums, but I'm working on the jazz riffs and single stroke rolls.

If I was to play guitar again, Gretsch all the way, but my last guitar was an Ibanez speed metal one.

You can't get midi out of it particularly either I don't think.

As for getting "analogue" into reason sampling could work maybe.

Its fun. And good at what it does. Sounding good possibly. I admit it'd be nice if it did everything but no so you slave it into a Live or Pro Tools or another solution to handle it all is my guess. Hadn't looked at the Mackie solution before - interesting!

Yeah, it's like a tiny tom drum, but with snares. And I mean tiny. It has a really high cracking pitch. I like it.

Spacey song cobba Happening electro noise synth intro.

I never thought about getting a Zoom guitar unit until... I did recently get their flagship G9.2tt and it's cool. Difficult name for it tho?! I had to look it up just then to see what it was called and I own one

I'm glad you play music, just because it makes sense the way we clicked.
    Amongst other things as well.

Try as you might, there's no matching live sound.

Helcyon, I was thinking of using Reason with the Mackie program. I've been looking at USB keyboard, just haven't had the time or money for one yet. The only other thing I need is the Line 6 program for guitar.......This is yet another hobby I have no time for (Roller Derby, Cars, etc....)

I have a Fender Strat, Yamaha acoustic, and Hofner Replica (McCartney viola bass). I goof with garageband a bit now. I'll probably get reason and a few orchestra progs at some point. I can play sax and keys a bit. I'm leftie. I play just for fun and relaxation.

I used to play cello, if of course you have a loose definition of 'play'....

I had "beautiful hands", but I was "lazy" :P

That rawks! I'm glad that you have that. My husband plays bass too. Sometimes we refer to his expert hand jobs on me as 'playin' fiddle' As it takes two hands... I call him a VIRTUOSO!!!

    Wikipedia:

A virtuoso (from Italian virtuoso, late Latin virtuosus, Latin virtus meaning: skill, manliness, excellence) is an individual who possesses outstanding technical ability at singing or playing a musical instrument.

"...a virtuoso was, originally, a highly accomplished musician, but by the nineteenth century the term had become restricted to performers, both vocal and instrumental, whose technical accomplishments were so pronounced as to dazzle the public."

The defining element of virtuosity is the performance ability of the musician in question, who is capable of displaying feats of skill well above the average performer.

In other contexts, virtuosity can be generalized to define a person who excels technically in some area of human knowledge, although its use is more commonly applied in the context of the fine arts.

Is he ever a master at the FINE ARTS....lol.

    I have an Ibanez.

although I refuse to call it an I-Buh-Neez. To me, it's an I-Beins, and no funny look will change that.
