Default Beamed up for the last time.

We wont be seeing anymore Scotty at the Star Trek Con's (Too bad it wasn't Shatner..he's an arrogant ass).

I'm still a big Star Trek fan, and catch the old episodes when I have the time. So for any other Trek fans out there, take a moment to remember the fantastic James Doohan.

He'll never be forgotten...mainly because of the Star Trek fanbase who will keep his memory and character alive for decades after I am worm food.

A couple o' interesting points about James Doohan:

    - He was one of the men who hit the beaches on D-Day.

    - Had his right middle finger blown off in WWII; the Star Trek folks always shot/edited the footage to hide that fact.

    - Has nine kids, the most recent of which was born five years ago when he was 80.

when I heard this evening of His death, I had to get out the old bagpipes and play Amazing Grace for His memory, as He did in the 2nd Movie. Then a shot of Dewars Scottish wiskey is in order

Yeah, I read the obit...not only D-Day, but later on he re-trained due to injury and became a fighter pilot too. He certainly represented during WWII, that's for sure.

yep. there it is! I know this is gonna sound insensitive but The man who invented the first tv dinner also died a couple days ago. I actually looked at my mom last night and was like-should we watch old startreks and eat tv dinners in their memories? I'll remember him more as a vet than I will as an actor though-and also as a scotsman (part scottish too.....)

Funny thing - his "Scotty" accent? Fake.

Doohan was a master of dialects. According to reports, he tried out six or seven different accents when he auditioned for the role, and suggested, when asked, that the Scotsman accent worked best as it sounded the most authoritative.

There are actually several times in the original Star Trek series where Doohan also provided the generic male voice over a comm channel or over a speaker.
