Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Quote:
Innovative firearms manufacturer Kel-Tec unveiled their exciting first entry into the shotgun market this past January, just in time for Las Vegas' SHOT show. The new KSG shotgun features dual tube magazines allowing a capacity of up to 7 rounds each (12 gage 2-3/4") plus one in the chamber...

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Eh, shotguns like that just seem wrong to me.
-
Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
so wrong....but in a good way................just like popcorn
It must get pretty warm after unloading so many so fast though

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
it looks more like something from a videogame than a real weapon; in a sort of "combat shotgun" sort of way. i think id rather have a more iconic shotgun looking one, and i really dont think i would ever need that many rounds - outside of the Zombapocalypse or End of the World type scenarios. i sort of draw the line at some of the Mossberg shotguns i have seen. i do agree however, that that front slide grip attachment is really killer though.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
I don't normally drool over guns, but that looks like fun! The only thing that would be better would be the actual development of the "Machine Shotgun" that was in the 2000ad "Judge Dredd" story a few years ago.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
I mean, it's awesome and badass and all, but I really don't see a practical purpose for this gun.
Maybe it's not supposed to be practical, okay, but I agree with nathanmbailey...it just doesn't seem right.

Like the AA-12? Those are pretty cool too. I like the drum magazine.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
It looks kinda neat in a gun porn kinda way, but if I need a shotgun with a lot of ammo don't a lot of companies make shotguns with detachable box magazines? Seems like any practical application has a better option. But I am not a shotgun guy.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
With the KSG, you could put less than lethal beanbag rounds on one side and more significant rounds in the other, so you had more control over the outcome. Unless you are dyslexic like I am :)

:beermug: How many neon green rounds made up that belt of yours? 75? Suddenly we're practical.

The biggest box/magazine on that site seems to be ten rounds. I like the compact nature and the ability to select the type of round you are about to use. Magazines are probably faster and easier for reloading though, even if the overall gun is much larger.

Well played sir.
I should have worded that differently. I just think going overboard on lethal weapons is..the only word I can think of is wrong.
I think it just disturbs me because I have personal issues with firearms.
It does look cool though. Almost as cool as my belt...
-
Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
The compact design is nice, but flipping over the gun to switch magazines doesn't seem any easier than having a second box with yellow tape on it or something. Again, not a shotgun guy and I am not one to knock personal preference. After all, I am still looking for the money to buy the Medusa revolver just cause it is neat.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Oh, yeah, don't get me wrong. Loading it does still look like a bit of a hassle. There are quick tube loader devices for standard models, like the Mossberg 500, so I'd be interested to know if those work or are available for the KSG.

That is certainly a fair point. Much like your awesome spectacular belt, guns I have spend most of their practical time hanging out with pretty girls in front of the camera too.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
I blame violent video games for this gun obsession. Many people who weren't raised in a gun-enthusiast housholds have a detailed knowledge of weapons from their realistic portrayal in these games. The first shoot em up games had you blasting zombies and Aliens. Now the most popular games are Call of Duty, which glamorizes the US military. There's even games like Call of Juarez where you have to defend the border from vicious mexican drug cartels. This is great propaganda and marketing all rolled into one.
-
Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Video games are to blame for a lot of awesome things, these days.
S'cause they started out un-cool. They got a chance to build their own culture from scratch before anyone with current power and vested cultural interest started caring. Propaganda games are getting increasingly more common, but they've yet to overcome the fact that reality is simply much less interesting than zombies, aliens and impossibly cool armor.
-
Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
yeah....less interesting for sure

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Yeah, that looks like another cool yet impractical weapon.
I get the fact that it's cool to have small, concealable weapons.
But if you are going to have a small assault weapon, make it something
like a MP5, that can actually be fired accurately. Any shotgun that's really
small is still going to have way too much recoil to make it very useful.
I put a pistol grip setup on one of my shotguns, and it looks cool, but it
makes you realize how much better a regular one with a stock works
by comparison.

That's at least twice the price though. There is also part of me that appreciates the relative lack of ballistic evidence left around when you use shot shells. :wink2:

I don't really mind the kick too much when using the pistol grips and it's a fair trade-off for the improved maneuverability indoors.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
I guess I'd rather use a pistol when indoors...
If I was stepping outside for some reason, I'd want the longer-distance
accuracy of having a longer barrel and full stock.
No doubt that the mini-shotguns can look pretty cool.

Well you do have a nice place.
Wouldn't want to blow it up too badly. :)
The problem with this model is that it's a lot of hardware for only 4ish rounds.
Good for robbing a place, not so good for defending a place.

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Yeah, those qualify in my list of guns to own that look cool, but really have no practical purpose...
-
Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
Unfortunately, I have a feeling the gangs in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro could find a use for these pretty quickly. Short range, fast, big caliber... Scary stuff in the wrong hands! I don't own any guns here - can't afford them... But I have several knives - a couple automatics, 2 sets for throwing, and a Bowie. The automatics are for emergency use and the throwing knives are for parties...:thumb: Oh yeah, plus a fillet knife for fish...

Re: Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun
I want to has that...
I'd love the new breed of semi-auto converted Saiga 12s with the folding stocks, HK sights, and stuff but that looks totally awesome. Bull pup. The pump action in the video seems a little clunky though.
