Forrest Black and I had a good time shooting at the Los Angeles Teaseorama celebration held at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Despite having some of our camera equipment stolen, we were able to photograph a parade of classic beauties for your viewing pleasure. There was a cool breeze blowing across the roof patio that night and even those in attendance who were not performing were notable and dressed in the spirit of things.
The first time Tease-o-rama was held, founder Alison Fensterstock and co-conspirator Baby Doe put the show together in Alison's adopted hometown of New Orleans. The second year proved even bigger than the first when they moved it to Baby Doe's stomping grounds of San Francisco. The next logical step was to come to Los Angeles where all the stars are made. The event was initially sparked by an article Alison was working on which introduced her to the fabulous world of burlesque. When she realized how many cool performers were out there, she became determined to expose more people to their amazing variety of talent and glamour. The burlesque and fetish worlds have heavy crossover because they are both about the titillation and sensuality and power of a certain sexuality conveyed by more than just the act. Dita von Tease is of course the most famous performer to cross over between the two and her sparkling water fairies performance with Catherine D'Lish at the 2003 Tease-o-rama did not disappoint, but she is far from the only one. The bevy of beauties from coast-to-coast performing this year included New York's Amber Ray, San Francisco's Dane's Dames and Eva Von Slut, and Miss Exotic World 2002 Kitten deVille. And damn but the Colorado girls of Ooh la la presents had spunk. If there is a title one can be awarded in the world's of fetish, dancing, costume, or looking good naked, odds were good that at least one lovely in attendance had held it. Although we were kind of expecting the event to take place somewhere around here again this time of year, we can't wait to see where and when the next exciting burlesque extravaganza is going to be held!
