Jennifer Miro aka MistressJennifer Dead?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on Xmas, but I only just came across this – I've seen news in two places, IMDB and a talk page on Wikipedia, stating that Nuns singer and Blue Blood model Jennifer Miro passed away from cancer a week and a half ago:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0592452/bio
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Th...as_passed_away
I post this with some caution, as IMDB is notorious for posting unconfirmed information, and the info on Wikipedia is also word of mouth (which is why it was not added to The Nuns article). On the other hand, there's a very odd lack of obituaries *anywhere*.
The last news I'd heard of her was in 2008, responding that she was OK following the murder of her bandmate Mistress Kris:

Other than that, no activity or news from The Nuns since their early-mid 2000s comeback.
Very sad news, if true.
Re: Jennifer Miro aka MistressJennifer Dead?
very sad news, indeed. she will be missed.
Re: Jennifer Miro aka MistressJennifer Dead?
That sucks, if accurate. :( Thanks for letting us know, though.

Re: Jennifer Miro aka MistressJennifer Dead?
i am not familiar enough with her band to call myself a true fan. i only came to know her through this forum and website. even so, i found this bit of news saddening, and will miss her presence here. i even found myself having a brief interlude in a dream or two last night about her and her passing.

The Nuns and Jennifer Miro had kind of an odd career. They were one of the founding bands of the San Francisco punk scene back in the day, and were at one point the best known punk/new wave band in the entire city, playing two sold out shows per night at the Mabuhay Gardens. They got some major label interest, but never scored a major record deal and their first incarnation was pretty much gone by 1980. Jennifer and her main collaborator Jeff Olener reformed The Nuns several times over the last 30 years, always chasing after the success that had eluded them the first time around, with much less payoff. The goth/fetish direction they went in since the 1990s was kind of a new thing for them and managed to get them some attention years after their heyday.

Same as aXa, I only knew of her through this website, but it's never good news to hear someone has passed.

I'm fuckin' heartbroken.
In actuality.
90% of the people here could kick off, and I wouldn't sneeze, but Jennifer was always so nice, and funny.

Very sad about that. She was really cool and always pleasant, both working together and later occasionally chatting online. I really had no idea she was quite that ill.

RIP Jen. Here's a bit of history: http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/...nger_of_sf.php
I'll miss chatting with her. She was one of a kind.
