Its not DIRECT sunlight. Something about how its always raining there.
I liked the books, but the movie was alright. At least it was fairly close to the books, just edited for teenage girls.

My wife rented it last night. I watched a little bit of it. Yeah, I was totally bored. Give me Interview With a Vampire any old day. I'll watch the shit out of that.

I didn't stand in line, nor am I paying over $20 for the DVD, I will eventually buy it when I can find it super cheap, because I am curious why it is so damn popular, and I'm hoping its not just cause lil girls find the main character to be hot.

Pretty much every culture through history has had tales of extremely seductive and often beautiful creatures which could destroy those attracted to them. Not sure I get why Twilight is supposed to be such a departure, but maybe I would get it if I had seen it.

Can someone explain to me why I am supposed to hate Twilight? I mean, other than the fact that teenage girls like it?
i have just seen enough based on commercials to hate it. if someone said "hey, let's watch twilight." i wouldn't hit them or anything. but i'm not going out of my way.
also, i agree with you... i actually get a little pissed off at movies where vampires are ugly or act like animals. i just watched this one epic fail of a movie and the vampires were attractive, yet acted like animals. like "ok.. soo... you're undead, have lived hundreds of years, and you eat a person like a pack of wild dogs? learn table manners, maybe?" w/e
maybe i just have an over-romanticized idea of vampires, but the whole point of them is their allure. how else would you get humans to be your food? if you're ugly and creepy, people will avoid you.

    it's called a glamoure.

they go over it in buffy, angel, the lost boys, dracula and a handful of other movies and shows.

basically, hollywood vampires have an ability to make themselves look attractive to lure in potential meals despite how they actually look. i think raddoo did it too in subspecies.........

Or they set up elaborite traps to trick people into coming close enough to them to be captures and drained of tasty tasty blood.

Hells no I didn't stand in line for it, much less would I have if there even was a line. Most of the people I know who picked up the movie just got the $3 Haji-copy to send to their daughters so their wives wouldn't waste $20 on the thing. Then again, I don't think the military falls into the target audience.

The only "vampire romance" I've read that I've liked was Kim Harrison's novels, but I think I really liked it because it's a chick vampire pawning over a chick witch, and well, I kind of like the girl-on-girlness.

Is it $3 there because they are pirating it or because that is part of the USA democracy and culture export service?

Oh, they're bootlegged like a mother fucker! Sometimes we can get good quality stuff when the movies hit theaters, especially big time movies because someone will get a copy of the stuff sent to awards voters, so the picture is clear but it'll have "property of time warner" or something and cut to black and white for a few minutes at a time, but usually they're crappy theater rips. A couple weeks after the movie comes out on DVD though, that's a whole new story, it's just a copy of the dvd. They've gotten lazy, they use to at least put a label on it, now it's just a blank dvd-r or it's got the name of the movie written on it with a Sharpie.
