in vino veritas (in wine there is truth)
this is not the exact quote but here's the gist.
Do not pray loudly with your arms outstretched in public, when you pray do it in the comfort of your own home or in a closet - Jesus (tell that to the 700 club) (I know it's not the exact verse but I don't have a bible in front of me to verify it)

I have a lot of respect for Mae West. Of course she was sexy and full of charsima, but she eventually owned millions in real estate and that was far more than she ever made as an actress. Quite an intelligent woman. Nice to see a quote from her.

"Religions are easy to invent. Most traditional religions have little or nothing to do with reality, are dependent on obfuscation, interpretation, guilt, and unreasoning faith - some more than others. Since Satanism is essentially a religion of the self, it holds that the individual and his personal needs comes first. If that means playing with trains or spike-heeled shoes or singing in the bathtub, those are its sacraments and devotions. Taking inventory of old comic books is counting beads on a rosary, each book being a station of the cross." The Most Powerful Religion by Anton LaVey

The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself" Sir Richard F. Burton

I have so many quotes, its not even funny. I love Oscar Wilde but he deserves his own post of great quotes. Dorothy Parker was another great one that I have a ton of quotes for. Along with Mae West. Here is just a little handful though. I am quote collector of sorts.

"Getting out of jury duty is easy. The trick is to say you're prejudiced against all races." - Homer Simpson (I have used this idea a lot and it works like a charm)

"Be careful what you pretend to be, because in the end, you are what you pretend to be." - Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. "Mother Night"

"Man prefers to believe what he prefers to be true" - Francis Bacon

"There are ten or twenty basic truths, and life is the process of discovering them over and over and over." - David Nichols

"When in doubt, wear red." - Bill Blass

(On going to war over religion) "You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend." - Rich Jeni

"Life is a tragedy for those who feel; and a comedy for those who think." - Chinese Proverb

"An acid is like a woman: a good one will eat through your pants!" - Mel Gibson (on Saturday Night Live)

"Isn't sanity just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean, all you get is that one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, well, the sky's the limit!" - The Tick

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either. Just leave me alone." -- Anonymous Cynic

"We are born naked, wet, and hungry. Then things get worse." -- Unknown

"Now I'm depressed. Now I feel like killing myself but luckily I'm too depressed to bother." -Pump up the Volume

"A slavish concern for the composition of words is the sign of a bankrupt intellect." Humbug from The Phantom Tollbooth
