    Default Naming Ships for fun.

What are some names you would name a ship if you had any options you wanted?

An Example of Mine would be:

    The Death Of Modesty

Two ideas immediately sprang to mind... pretty good considering it's 5 in the morning and I have no coffee. The first one, as part of an ongoing joke, is Shovel 4. (For the record, Shovel 1 is a car, Shovel 2 is a bus, and Shovel 3 will be another bus whenever it's finished).

The second is Arsenal, and is a fairly obscure reference. A large number of bonus points go to you if you can name that reference... here's a hint if you need one.

this brings to mind the "Culture" novels of Iain M Banks. all of his starships are sentient, and they choose their own names. some of them are amusing:

    Ultimate Ship the Second
    No More Mr Nice Guy
Of Course I Still Love You
    I Blame Your Mother
    Kiss the Blade
    I Blame My Mother

Yeah, we could use a navy. To borrow an Air Farce line, "Her Majesty has recently been inspecting the Canadian navy. She says it's a very nice ship."

But beware the dreaded West Edmonton Mall class submarines.

I've always liked the USS Forrestal. I toured in in San Fran a long time ago. They showed us the Nukes and everything.
