What happened last night?

We had a meeting of the chairpeople of the local factions of my party. It was agreed that I should be a candidate on their main lists for Town and County positions and then I was promptly voted as a Delegate for the Landkreis meeting (the next level up) with a hint that they'd push me through from Landkreis to Land (Lower Saxony) with the wish that the Land promote me to Delegate to the Bundesparteitag in Karlsruhe (that is Germany-wide). All the positions as Delegate would start this year but the elections are next year...

Do you remember when the whole "goth" connotation came about and why? I can vaguely remember a time when a style was gothic but noone was a "goth". Death rocker etc.

Nothing even close to that .... yet. I am just beginning to aim for the stars. Why did you turn him down? Schroeder? How do you feel about Schroeder btw? I'm beginning to seriously question the free reign being given Putin by Schroeder and US President Bush.

I turned the invitation down because I had an annual meeting in Thuringen of a children's charity I am on the board of, and that was considerably more important to me than a Chancellor.

I have few problems with Schröder as Chancellor on the national level - he'll effectively be my boss if I am elected next year. I don't mix with international politics too much, but agree that the freehand given the Russian government is a little bit too free, although I am not one for interferring in the sovereign decisions of other nations - providing they are not doing that to others. I place it on a secondary level to the freehand given China by Bush, but that doesn't make it any less of a matter to be given more thought.

Agree. My main issue with Putin is his meddling in the countries surrounding Russia. Russia and China have been increasing military ties of late. In what specific areas do you have concern in reference to Bush and his China policy? Personally, I think we've been playing their tune for a good 16 years.

why are you concerned about it? Aren't Russia reducing their nuclear weapons and isn't it natural that they should want a piece of the opening market in a neighbouring country? I guess I don't know much about it.

Russia is openly meddling in elections in the surrounding countries. They have also helped to foment secessionist movements in Georgia, Moldova, and Armenia. Russia is actually building a nuke that can penetrate any missile defense system. They don't want a piece of opening markets, they want their empire back.

The test is very stupid by itself, I did it one day I was very very bored but I couldn't quatify how goth am I even with the test.

I think my problem with the US / China relationship is that it revolves purely around money. The forced entry into the WTO despite the massive Human Rights problems which the US uses to keep others out of various institutions sticks in my throat.

I definitely agree with you there. There was opposition to China joining the WTO and other free trade agreements here, but it was limited to the far "right" and "left". The action is in the middle.

I think that Johnny is Goth in the inspirational point of view. While he himself may not be, he has influenced modern gothic fantasy very much.

In terms of Gothic origin, I think that it depends on point of view. Through history there have been subcultures obsessed with death, mourning, and the darker side of life. Everything from the aesthetic following the plague, to the Gothic Horror writers of the 1800s, to the Victorian obsessions with fetish, even up to the Expressionist movement could be considered with the modern eye to be the Historical roots of modern Goth.

As for me, I'm simply a Gothic Queen wannabe. Someday, when I'm rich and famous, I will own a beautiful silk and velvet wardrobe, live in an amazing Victorian house with flocked wall paper, and drink the blood of virgins to stave off aging. Until then, I'm just a girl with bad attitude and thrift store clothing.
