Do you like crabcakes cold?

I was in the restaurant by my physical therapy today and I ordered a crab cake and it came sorta lukewarm, like not chilled but definitely not piping hot either. I asked if it was supposed to be cold and they said yes. They were nice and made it hot for me when I asked, but I'm wondering if this cold crab cake thing is a West Coast thing or what. Back East, crab cakes are a more consistent sort of dish and they are totally always hot.

I'm not big on crab cakes but here in Cincinnati they have some weird food traditions. such as serving macaroni salad warm, & adding ingrediants like cininmon, nutmeg, & cloves to chili. Not to mention eating chili over spagetti noodles.

Cold crab cakes? Yuck.

I gotta have em hot as hell or they lose some of their punch and just taste "off". I've never been to a place that served em cold...even here.

Here in Baltimore a cold crabcake would be considered sacrilege.

I agree they should be warm. I am hungry I want crabcakes and skate and anything! Any food would be nice!!!

I never have any food in the house.

Wow, could I go for a nice Baltimore-style crab cake right now. Or really just a big stack of spiced (cooked and hot) crabs to tear apart and devour. When is crab season anyway?

You can get true Baltimore Blue Crabs just about any time of the year, though some months (summer) are better than others. Check HERE for out of town orders, but lets be honest, there is NOTHING like getting them fresh.

Crabcakes ARE delicious but for the true experience you have to "pick" the crabs yourself, preferably outside at a picnic table by the water, cold beer within reach. What often defines Baltimore crabs is the generous amounts of Old Bay seasoning that they are typically steamed in.

Warm is better, but I have seen them served cold before.
