So my friend is totally whacked out on drugs now and he is alone with his nine year old girl, and she is terrified! She called me this morning twice.

They are far away in New Jersey...

Never a good situation...sad the kid has to see that. It's fucking insane how irresponsible people can be around their own kids...and then they wonder how they lose custody.

Does the kid know any of their friends they could go stay with for a few days? Maybe they could call one of their friends, and ask their parents if they can stay for a while...

Have a friend around there that can take the kid "out for the day" or something. No kid should see that...at the very least they could tell the kid their dad is just sick...very very sad to hear this.

Well she is coming home from school soon, she is not there now. They live at his sister's house, and she is away, I don't know any of the kids out there...

Well I guess I will see how things are when she gets home... Maybe he could at least give her bus fare to come here. She might remember how to get here... Or maybe she could stay with a friend, but a stranger might not be better? I don't know...

Ok so I asked him to put her on a bus or get her a car service to Manhattan, and I can either meet her halfway or pay for part of her fare, if she needs to get out of there... So he said that he would help her do that...

that's good. the best thing to do is to defuse a hostile situation, but running away won't solve all the problems. I think maybe you should talk to the dad and get him some help because it won't do any good for the same thing to just keep happening and you may not always be able to be there for the girl.

I'd ask the kid directly, if they have any good friends.

If they do, get the phone numbers of those people,
and ask them if they would be willing to let the kid
stay with them for a couple of days, until you can
figure out what to do with the situation...

Well he is sort does this off and on. We all wanted to prevent him from doing this on front of his kid... That's why she never lived with him before... He is kind of a mess.
