Sounds political to me... An attack on those who are afraid to question "authority," whatever that means to you. The line about "what if this whole crusade's a charade" gives me a vaguely anti-Bush vibe, too.

In general, the lyrics remind me of a guy I know. He is about to graduate from business school, has lived with his parents for 25 years, went to Catholic school, etc. etc. The vision of a bright, young, good-looking American boy without the substance of actual intelligence and creativity. It is pretty easy at this point to see that if he ever tries to bite "the hand that feeds" or deviate from "the plan" in any way, he'll get smacked back into place without much fuss.

And don't, like, 70% of NIN songs have some oral sex metaphor? :P
