I SERIOUSLY thought that emo music was based off of his appearance so i never bothered to trash talk very much..... I really liked him when I was younger... still have his HBO comedy special on VHS

I liked Emo Phillips too. He was creepy but funny. I wanted the picture of him in the striped pants, but I couldn't find it. He looks very Emo in that one and I just think it's funny.

On the overall, and this isn't really directed and you jenova, I don't think there is any rule against enjoying some 'emo' bands or whatever, and I certainly don't think there is any rule against taking things you enjoy quite seriously. The problem (besides the poor fashion sense) is that since emo is a big buzzword now, you get these people who buy into it and think it's the end all be all, and are closed to anything else being respected. You get these sorts of people with every music oriented trend and they are the ones that are usually responsible for making a mockery of the things they claimed to be into.

Yeah, emo has some cultural flaws, some of them quite annoying, but most music/lifestyle genres do as well, so I guess I'm just saying that you have to be careful when you knock whole groups rather than the bad behaviour within a group.

One thing that bugs me about emo culture is that a lot of the folks into it can't seem to quite get it up to be fully agressive about anything, so they are simply passive agressive about a lot of things. I think they are responsible for the snotty smarmy negativity that seems to be so prevalent in cool culture these days, and I really don't like that.

Yeah i think thats a huge problem and i belive that its because its a bunch of these emo kids are the product of suburban yuppie parents who spoiled the shit out of them and gave them no reason to ever have to be agressive. And they inherited whole whiny thing as well. Goths dont tend to be very aggressive either but (contrary to popular belief) they aren't whiny about everything they embrace the sad things in life instead of crying about them and they deal with it. For the most part emo are whiny little spoiled brats.

teh man has said it again, I dunno what or how emo started there was an early 80's explosion of really good hardcore bands, Refused, Raised Fist, Suicide File and many others at the same time there were these english bands.....I dunno I only grew my hair long..now short....gotta update my profile pic....becasue fo Refused....tottaly digged that banmd form thier first albumn to thier last..but again Forrest has hit the nail on the head at least form my point of view...but I am very ecleptic in my music taste...

Yeah, actually I have. I'm choosing to remember him from an older time. I'm glad he's still around though.
