How do you stop procrastinating?

What do you do to knock yourself out of procrastination mode, anything from blowing off laundry to writers block?

I tell myself that if I don't do it, then it ain't gonna get done....

Either that, or give myself the incentive of a (self-administered) reward...if you do this, you can have/do that, but not before!

I follow the overdose method.. Just keep on procrastinating till you cant do it anymore. Only then do you realize that you have to get up off your butt and get it done, or your one step away from becoming a shut in.
Sure, its a drastic method, but when that moment comes and you think to yourself, "Damn I've been sitting here for four days watching Jerry Springer, and I'm starting to like it." that your missing out on life.

Caffeine and vicodin!!!! Heh!

As far as writers block, that is something that you need to WAIT for... When you try to create, and it is not the right time, it just comes out badly. Wait for the inspiration, wait for the right time.

But as far as laundry, the caffeine will do it!!

But creativity, that is something that needs time. You have to be sensitive to when it is a good time for you to create. The words will come to you, maybe when you are taking a shower, or just when you feel compelled to write.

The best things I have written have been either when I woke up in the middle of the night, or when I woke up in the morning. I can never write after a long day, I just get burned out by too many images.

When you first wake up, you are still filled with subconcious images, and that is always good...

(You can really tell that I came from a family of psychiatrists and grew up in California by this post!)

HA,,....i was just talking to someone about procrastinating last night...


i'm terrible about it....i mean ,you can't even imagine....


for example(haha): just today,i was driving a car to work that i had not finished the exhaust on yet,so i've been driving around sounding like a fucking drag car all day(seriously, it's basically open headers).....

i really need to tone it down at least a little bit,i can't afford noise tickets.....



buuuuttt i need some bolts i seemed to not have...so it's gonna "have" to wait until friday....

I wait for a deadline. Like I'm out of underwear, better go do laundry. I tell every one I'll have the next story or column up at such and such a time and hten the frantic rush to make things happen on time is awesome.
