Standup Comedy

Hey all. Figured I'd share a recent anecdote. This comedy club in Washington DC hosts an annual event to find the funniest college student in the DC area. A bunch of colleges host their own comedy night and 2 winners from each college then compete at the DC club. Ive always wanted to give standup a try and I entered my college's competition and had the luck and honor of being one of the winners. So now i go to the finals and compete with kids from other colleges. This whole experience has been awesome and im psyched for the finals. So thats my story I just wanted to touch everyone in some way, without going to prison for it, so anyone else done this sort of thing before?

i admire your courage. you couldn't get me up on a stage to do standup even if my routine was written by Mitch Hedberg, Bill Hicks and Citizen Ted from alt.tasteless.

For me, my life is interesting enough that I don't tell jokes. I tell stories. But it sounds fun dude, I've wanted to do that for a while.

Yes its a fly by the seat of your pants kind of thing. A definite rush before, during, and after. Leading a group of strangers on a trip through my psyche and coming out ok is rather therapeutic.

I did standup at open-mics for a couple of years. I had a blast and met some great people. Good luck man.
