I know soccer/football isn't as popular in the US as in a lot of other countries so thats why I was wondering, are you going to watch it? And if yes which team will you support?
If not, why not?

ya i mite just watch a few ..
And when Peru wins ,,,,Pay up!!!!!!
soccer is actually a decent sport that doesnt get much attention in the US. I used to play for a couple years in Cali. If its on ill watch it, but half the time i dont get my digital channels even though its a fucking digital receiver!
But i hear that the "E" division is the toughest? Good luck guys
No, I won't watch because I don't watch television. I love the white shorts though.... have seen soccer players in photos of course.
I can't stand football, (or soccer as you call it). There's something distinctly homo-erotic about 22 men in their underwear running around a field, kissing each other, and sharing baths afterwards.
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!
The world cup is the only sporting event that I live for.
It's too bad the time is so off because none of my friends are willing to wake up at 6am to watch and drink with me.
I downloaded a chinese program called TVUPlayer (google it)Originally Posted by VoldtaEngler

I have to get used ot watching soccer. Mostly i watch it for the riots....kinda like the equivialnt of European NASCAR... I don't care who wins as long as there is specacular crashes.
K
I dont have time to watch it
what else do you have to do? I took the next three days off work.
also I think this wednesday, OEC is Ukraine at Spain. I think if they keep it tight they can win it.
probably not, i like soccer and played it in high school but i cant stand watching it on TV, for some reason.
I never watch any sports so i dont hate soccer any more or less any other sport
I am going to be anti-american, and not watch our team.. Cause they SUCK
Absolutely Unfortunately, Shevchenko is injured. I am hoping for the best.Originally Posted by Morning Glory

Australia sure rocked against Japan!Originally Posted by seeker

That was one hell of a half for Spain. It's gonna take Rebrov and a prayer. I never give up on the boys in blue and gold tho.Originally Posted by Scott

Having said that, I protest this game. They red-carded a man who did nothing.

that was rough. All predictions have been thrown out the window so far.
As of now, It looked like Germany was going to have to take a draw against Poland... and they got one in at the last minute, litteraly, 90 minutes on the clock!
this is me right now:
Who are you for? Germany?Originally Posted by Morning Glory

you really think that australia is going to beat brazil?
eh. stranger things have happened.
yeah. Although I usually root for the underdog. I would have had mixed emotions if Poland won that game. Let me put it this way, if I wasn't going for Germany, like I had no bias before the game, I would have been going for Poland. Their goalie was easily the top player of the match.Originally Posted by OneEyedCat

Totally! Poland was WAY out played. I wanted Germany to win, but christ I was getting pretty worried toward the end of the game that it would end 0-0. If Germany couldn't even beat Poland they don't deserve to win the cup. Poland is fucked next game too with that one player getting the red card.Originally Posted by Morning Glory
does a red card disqualify you from the entire tournament? Im assuming they get 11 men for the next game. Ukraine played the entire half with 10. It was such a bullshit call too. None of the announcers or analysts could believe it.Originally Posted by Toe Cutter

thought a red card was 1 game?
No, just that game and the next one.Originally Posted by OneEyedCat
oh ok. They can replace him in the next game tho Im assuming? We had 10 men on the field ugh.Originally Posted by Toe Cutter

my housemates are watching it, i think it boring, but my rooms next door to the room where the tv is, so not much sleep for me
You say this as if it's a bad thing? In fact, that's the only reason I keep track of it.Originally Posted by Black Spiral Dancer
Personally, I vote professional wrestling as the least heterosexual sport in the world: big, stacked scantily-clad men, oiling each other up and then rolling around on a mat together, many even taunting each other to "suck it" with "it" referring to their cocks. I'm actually surprised that so many supposedly-heterosexual Amerikan men watch it.
I love soccer. Did anyone see the Trini match? (trinidad..that was an interesting match).I've always caught soccer. To me, it's so much more interesting than american football.
Maybe that's why the sport gets no attention in the $tates?Originally Posted by Bondage Clown
Right now, they're tied with Italy, but I'm willing to bet money that Italy makes 'em bite it like the Czech Republic did the other day.
will that be cash or charge?
we'll just have to see how they do against ghana. they are a good team and US will have to work even harder than they did against italy if they want to continue. I'd say for starters to throw out keller... ok, ok, but he needs to play through the whole game like he did in the last 20. the defense that was non-existant in the czech game was right on and they need to keep that up. with 9 men they can't afford to have anyone not on top of his game.
which match sun k?
I also like T&T, but I was sad to have to root against them when they played my number 2 team, england.
Ukraine v. Saudi Arabia was a great game. 2 really amazing goals by Rebrov and Shevchenko.
4-0 Ukraine wins!

Australia made it through to round two, the first time ever, and plays Italy.
I am now required to watch the cup as part of my new job at the port commisary. I learned alot about soccer in my first morning on the job. and spent a good 20 min chatting wiht a loverly german boy in a VnV shirt.
