If you could give your fourteen-year-old self three pieces of advice, what would they be?

hmm... if i could go back and tell my 14-year old self only one thing, it would be...
"make sure you remember when you are 21 years old, don't come back in time to give your 14-year old self advice."

just to fuck with my head.

EDIT: im an idiot. had i ever learned to read in primary, i would have known that amelia said three pieces of advice, and had i ever learned to count i would have known that the above is not a full three-count. oh well. if only there were some way for me to go back and change the things i did...

1.) Go into computers early and make lots of startup $ before the tech bubble bursts at the end of the 90's.

2.) 22 years later, the vast majority of the people you now know will have gotten fat, settled down, and/or sold out. There's not much you can do to prevent this, but it goes to show you that while almost everyone starts out with a dream, most betray it, little by little, with rationalizations and inaction until both the debt of entropy and the passage of time leads them to put that same dream to bed as youthful foolishness.

    See: James Branch Cabell, Jurgen.

3.) Go easy on the booze because you become a fucking orc when drunk.

It freaks me out that so many people stop trying so early. I always think I can prevent this and then I get disappointed. I learn intellectually on it, but emotionally I never learn. Not settling down and selling out is very time-consuming, but I'll have you know my personal trainer is very fit.

haha I'm more proud of some of the ppl we've buried. It doesn't take 22 years for the flame to go out a lot of times.

I'll have to tell you the "Saving Jackie T" story sometime. Needless to say, you can't save people (and yes I've tried recently and it fucking sucked)

I was a little too cautious in my early years.

It's simple and low-drama, to be a loner and antisocial. But you learn more about life by having lot of interesting friendships and relationships. I think if I had made a lot of mistakes sooner in life, I wouldn't be making them now...

Your German Teacher should be dismissed and prosecuted if he is becoming involved with 14 year old students.

It is time-consuming, and like honest introspection, sometimes painful...but the alternative is a tragic mindlessness, so we really have no choice.

Well, that's natural. Everyone has a crush on one of their teachers. It's not something to take too seriously.

Well, yes its natural. But what's not natural is to get obsessed with one and carve their initials in your wrist.

That was a bad time in my life.

But I've grown to see he's not worth a space on my wrist. He's not worth the pain. Nobody's worth the pain or the blood.

I would say to myself to not care what others think, take the educational scholarship I won, learn a language, and put more time and effort into learning a musical instrument.

Also that most the stuff you learn at school you never use again.

Trust No One... NO ONE!!! (Agreed with Jax)
You don't need anyone's help... trust yourself.
    You are fucking brilliant...
Make a fuss, get what -you- want.
    Leave Home. Now.
Don't let yourself be controlled by your sense of the 'right thing'.
Express yourself... Repression -will- get you in trouble later.

I would tell myself to keep doing what I was doing then academically. Fuck people & don't get involved with them, don't listen to any adults around you and once you are 18 get out & stay that way.

    1. "Just a Dash" in the melbourne cup
    2. Rob a bank, pimp your grandma... whatever it takes just buy a shitload of Microsoft shares... IBM are about to sell DOS to Bill gates (suckers). You are still going to be using DOS from time to time in 2007 in a job in an industry that won't exist for a decade or more yet... so yes you are making the right decision by getting drunk and stoned for years... just snap out of it momentarily when you hear about something to be known as the "internet" and then go back to being out of it
    3. These very video games you are wasting your all your coins on now will all eventually be available free on your home PC using emulators like MAME so buy vintage guitars instead idiot

    1) everything your mother ever told you is a lie. call your dad and gtfo NOW.
    2) srsly kid, finish high school, and take those german classes.
    3) there is nothing ot be gained by getting high. NOTHING.
    4) return to FL when you're 18, look up that guy you had a crush on in jr high (not steve, ROB). He's your soul mate.
    5) as much as you want to save your brother from being just like those ppl you shared a house with the last 15 yrs, there's nothing you can do about it. wasting the time and effort will only break your heart more.
    6) never doubt the benefits of a shrink. skip the ritalin, get the help.
    7) when kelley comes on to you, leap at the chance, srsly.
    8) growing up hurts, but masturbation is fun. try both.

and yes i know thats more than three, but i was a fucked up 14 yo. i needed lots of advice.

    Add to my list,
    4. Don't have sex with the woman older than your mother, as the goth/punk girl with the pillarbox red hair fancies you.
    5. Don't wear New Rock Boots to work, it will ruin them.
    6. Don't drink too much.

    1. Buy housing in the DC area around 1996-97, sell it in 2004 and use the money to throw an incomprehensibly large and out of control party. Bonus points for strippers, midgets, cartoon characters, celebrity impersonators, and a moon bounce. Extra bonus points for every teen in attendance who loses their virginity and/or overdoses during said event. Any extra monies to be used for legal representation later.... (Inox; are you a *criminal* lawyer?)

    2. Don't see "Battlefield Earth", EVER. Even on fucking DVD.

    3. Don't ever date exclusively until you are 31...I guarantee it will be a waste of time and financial resources, not to mention a barrier to countless sexual encounters that *could* have happened if you weren't such a pathetically loyal boyfriend. Bend over anything that moves.
