So, where would you be willing to travel to for a gathering of all these loverly ppls?
Atlanta, GA
Los Angeles, CA
Las Vegas, NV
New York, NY
Mid -- Clevland, Chicago
Pacific NW -- Portland, Seattle
MidAtlantic -- DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia
New Orleans, LA
So, where would you be willing to travel to for a gathering of all these loverly ppls?
Vegas would be easiest for me.
Vegas is a hole.
Seattle, WA or Portland, OR
Being Australian and having limited transport options, no money and living in a rural area, none of those places really work for me....
my vote is for atl, but my year is looking busy, so I guess it really depends.... I won't go to vegas though. or l.a. either probably........
Well, I'm in Seattle, so I would prob have to travel and it doesn't really matter to me. Just give me plenty of notice to try and get time off. Actually, I still haven't been to NY...
Erm..atlanta of course
I await your cookies hehe
I'm in Indiana, so Ohio would be closest, but I might be able to make it out further east.
I could do Ohio aswell. I wouldn't do ATL, not because of travel, I just think ATL sucks. Been there before, didn't enjoy it much.
I stuck Ohio in there cause i'm prolly going to see the family this summer and if there was a gathering of the BB variety either before or after it would make things easier. just don't do it the same weekend as the hatchet gathering, i have obligations.

I confess I added a couple more options to Keiko's already fine list.
Seattle on the list? Nice! That would free up my travel expenses for booze or whatever.
What time frame would this be? In my humble opinion I find gatherings more fun in the warmer months.
if it's gonna be north of where i am now i vote august as that would get me the fuck out of the sweltering swamps in the hottest part of the year. Though if we're looking at any later than october i vote for a southern region. Mini skirts and fishnets don't stand up to cold and snow very well, i know i tried that while i was in england...

i dont have the moneh to get anywhere, so unless you hold it in aus i wont be tagging along. and lets face it, it would be a pain for pretty much everyone else to get here
switchblade: i didnt realise you live in aussieland. what area you in?
Seattle in the summer is warm but not too hot, and beautiful as hell.
It's got fremont trolls, glass museums in Tacoma, and hippie ass shit in Olympia.
Since I don't own a passport, it would make no difference to me. I still wouldn't be able to make it. The cost would also be prohibitive.
Now see I'd be all up for holding the gathering somewhere exotic like Aussieland, or Germany (I'll get to both one day) but I alas leaving the country is kinda at odds with my bank account.
*hatches plan of gatherings linked up by webcams from around the world* What if we were to do several informal gatherings one in each of the aforementioned locations and string them together with web cams on the interwebz? then everyone could get together without have to slog halfway across the globe to do it? It won't be quite the same, but with everyone suffering lackocash-itis thanks to the abysmal year behind us it would be a cheap and relatively effective solution.

okay, with the new options, my vot is for portland or atlanta. either is fine; PDX preferable.
PDX is now technically in the lead...
hey, I think the Seattle Tattoo Convention is in August. Nvr been, but that would be a nice addon to a BB event.
Are we talking a full on event, or more of a social gathering?
Social event more than anything else... I'd say Seattle Tattoo convention for the win.
Kelly and Andy are near Atlanta..that should boost the ATL lead by like....a million points.
wow, GA and pacific nw are neck and neck. Well, I would have a much better chance at making to GA, depending on in the future it is.
well out of the current leading choices I vote for seattle
Seattle in August it is!
actually it looks like we're bi-coastal folks. one in ATL and one in Portland/Seattle
~K
Whooops.... I just came across this poll having just posted that we needed a poll for the BB convention idea heh heh. Well I voted ATL because it's a lot easiar to get to from Florida.... but so long as I'd have time to save up (August would be plenty of time) I really wouldn't mind a trip to Seattle either. I'm not opposed to the idea of one in ATL and one in Seattle :-). If we had enough people going, could get group rates at hotel perhaps.
Vegas is fun as hell, and it's cheap. What in the hell is the matter with you people?
Yea, but everyone holds their gatherings in vegas. I think it would be nice for a change of pace. Different scenery.
*dead pan* i've done more conventions in vegas than i care to count. cheap and gaudy doesn't automatically equal fun. besides i don't think there are enough members of the board to require anything as massive as a vegas convention hall. i was thinking like a hotel ball room or a nice warm outdoor park.

I miss Vegas, been way to long But, I completely understand not wanting such a big gaudy environment.
So, what kind of fun time activities? MB some club hoping, going to hidden eateries, hitting some of the local scene. Then end the day at a private party place. IMHO, having a nice big house, BBQ in the yard, couple of kegs, semi-stocked bar and some strippers, a DJ/band could be fun; lots of strippers
I used to really enjoy Vegas a lot, but it's not as cheap as it once was. Conventions and family resorts really run the town now and that's dulled a lot of the edge I used to enjoy. Think old Times Square vs. new Times Square. I liked it seedy. Also, culturally, it's gotten a lot more like a Los Angeles farm league, if that makes any sense.
I'll go as far as I can drive in one day. I'd also be willing to carpool *looks at Billy and Scar* Between the burn, new tv, credit card bills, and misc other big expenses there's no way I'm flying anywhere (unless there's an awesome deal).
the burn?
You could make Portland in a day, right?
Burning Man. It'll be the girl and my first year.
Portland is about a 16 hr drive from here, so yeah I could probably make it. I'd prefer to carpool to save on gas though.
That's the thing - it's like the middle of the West Coast, so us SEA types can get down there, and you guys could carpool up here.
I've been to PDX once or twice, and I'll tell you, it's HEAVING with the mult-colored hair and piercing set, artists all over the place and suchlike. Cool town!
Seattle's got its merits, but PDX is practically equal in my book.
I just don't want to go to Atlanta, having JUST MOVED FROM THERE.
Yeah, I see your point about Vegas getting homogenized and stuff, but plane tickets/packages are still cheap and I can imagine partying with the likes of you people there would be no shortage of good times. I can just picture all of us rolling down the street armed with 20 oz. Margaritas, you just can't do that anyplace else.
I'm sorry but Atlanta sounds gay. It may be a cool place to live but I've never heard anybody talk about a hell-raising time in Atlanta. What are we going to do? Hang out at a hotel bar... Lame... I'd rather go to Chicago
I can't believe San Francisco didn't make the list. That's a fucking cool city.
Seattle is cool... I guess...
Keiko's right, tickets to Amsterdam are really cheap right now and that's a wicked city too.
Yea, but Amsterdam is a long ass plane trip, plus you'd have to make sure to have a passport in time.
