Blech. Scared people and their eternal "Somebody should DO something about this!" attitudes, paying absolutely no regard to whether the most ideal solution is not already in place or what the downsides and prospective added values of additional measures would really be.

People have this attitude grown in to them where every regrettable event must necessarily have a perpetrator, accountable proportionally to the scariness or destructiveness of the event. Nothing can ever just be an unfortunate coincidence of individually mostly harmless circumstances and benign intentions - there must always be people to blame, because underlying mechanics are too complicated and you can't just wave a club at them and demand they fix themselves.

This comes down to the whole issue of personal freedom to do what you want with your own body. Abortion, drugs, sex, etc. But I guess the main rule about that in America, is that you can do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't harm someone else. But in the case of sex without a condom, with someone who has AIDS, means that person is potentially killing the other people they have sex with. So they *are* harming someone else. But I still think it's up to the people doing porn to decide what they want to do, and what they think is safe. But if it's going to be a legal industry in CA, and falls under OSHA, etc, then they are going to have to figure out a way to make their workplace "safe". Which means either better testing, or mandatory condom use. And honestly, showing safe sex in porn would probably subliminally help kids to see how things *should* be done, instead of this total fantasy world, that they try to emulate. I also understand that there are "instant" HIV test kits now. So I don't see why they couldn't test before every shoot, rather than just once a month. I guess things like this will help the actors realize that it is indeed a dangerous industry, and not to get involved unless they are prepared to either take the risks, or be safe...
