Well at first it was kinda smart...very novelty like and caught attention. I forgot the name of the guy AND the ad so it's pretty safe to say the idea is better in theory than practice. But with so many copycats since then it's beginning to be quite forgettable all together.

I'm curious if anyone actually takes these ads seriously anymore.

Once you mix personal identity with corporate advertising on that kinda level...you gotta expect some people will have an opinion about it....good or bad. It's not so much a personal attack on you as much as it is a critique on the idea.

For example...it's one thing to wear a Nike t-shirt, shoes, whatever...it's quite another to get their logo inked in your body. Once you make your flesh a "Your ad here" kinda place...well...you become open to a much wider spectrum of opinion.

You essentially become a living, breathing, walking commercial...for at least a moment...and we all take to it diffrently. Charity or not you're still talking about advertising...and how it's executed has a lot to do with how it's accepted.

No one is saying DON'T do it...doubt anyone really cares one way or another...but you can't deny them the ability to discuss it as a subject given you're not the first nor the last person who will do this.

No offense darlin but it'd take board posting over being a corporate shill any day of the bloody week.

Plus given the nature of this board and the ideas and quality of the people who are or have been a part of it...it's not a bad place to spend some time (doubt anyone actually spends all day on one site...in our multi-task focused world I'm pretty sure people are doing many other things at once.) and more so engage in healthy discourse.

Lastly...don't put yourself in a public setting if you don't want public opinion to fall on you...it was eBay for fucks sake.

    Default A question?

Hey Sunkarma, I do have one question on this. If you are working as a model, will this advertising effect your ability to get work or satify existing work? Say for example you are making a casino appearance and an online or competing casino wins the auction? Or would a magazine shoot be disrupted if you had an ad?

As far as the morality of this guys, look around you at the people who wear product placement every day. Look at the number of people wearing playboy shirts or belly rings. Look at the number of harley tatoos. At least she is getting paid for it. The first time I saw auctions for living add space it bugged me, but when you think about it at least they are getting paid to advertise instead of paying to advertise a product. Look at the ass of your jeans and try to tell me you are not already a corperate shill.

Also, I don't know what kind of contract BB has with thier models, but I don't think they would kill someones shoot just because the model made an unpopular choice. How would that be different from her getting pulled from BB for getting an abortion or voting republican? Or is it cause she took the Blue Blood name in vain. Give Amelia and Forrest a break and don't ask them to crucify one of thier models for something like this.

... unless it is a sexy crucifiction

    Mortem..
You would not BELIEVE the publicity I have gotten for this stupid auction.
(oxymoron...or not). I have been called by TV stations, going to be in several newspapers, I am on several websites with press articles..in essence...I HAVE GOTTEN MORE WORK..AND MORE POPULARITY.

So really, it does not hurt anything, in fact, it HELPS.

I don't care either way if people have an opinion about it. Opinions are like assholes. Unpopular choice or whatever someone has to think about me, I don't really care. Public setting or not...if someone has something to say, I'll usually retort back because I CAN. Not because I really give a shit. There are two differences.

And this board is SO MUCH BETTER than the other crappy ones out there where all they do is be negative..I've been there (I won't say names) and I am just getting used to this one..so bare (pun intended) with me as I get used to this community, would ya? It's quite a transition from hellfire and brimstone to warm and fuzzy.

I know you guys weren't criticizing me about it, but making a general comment. That's fine. Just when you start personally attacking..that is when I do the same...and I fight with knives...

There boards are like a wool sweater...itchy and uncomfortable at first...but soon it's so comfortable you never want to take it off.

Doubt anyone was asking for anything that extreme...plus the last time we tried it someone forgot the nails and the wood was too brittle. We ended up just starting a small campfire, making smores, and telling ghost stories.

Ok, I think this might be the most unkind thing I have ever said on this board (so everyone try to forgive me), but YEAH RIGHT!

You are doing it to advance your modeling career....you are doing it for money...you are doing it for business. If you really cared about charity (and this goes for most "rich" people) you would give most of the money you don't NEED to charity. You would feed starving people, you would rent apartments for the homeless, you would build a "no-kill" shelter for animals that are getting put to sleep for no good reason.

The world is corrupt, so there is nothing I can do to change it. Nothing you can do to change it for that matter. And given today's society, this is how you survive. People give you tonnes of money to see your tits, or to see you tied up. Fine, I can't change that...and you need to eat. But don't try to make yourself or your career seem productive by trying to say you are doing any part of it for charity. People who really care about charity are out there picking ticks out of the hair of children dying of aids. People who really care about charity are LIVING IT...not going to Vegas to sell stuff to the ignorant using a picture on their body.

I dont' know you, I'm sure you are a nice person...who cares and loves like the rest of us. You work hard, and I appreciate that. It's not hard eating a piece of lettuce a day and spending hours in the gym to maintain a "model" body. This isn't really an attack on you, just on the ideals of the culture you choose to be part of. I just needed to say it.

Good luck with your Ebay thing.

Honestly, I don't like the whole 'model culture' that proliferates. I am not REALLY a model. I am a psychologist, writer, actress, etc. But force me into that lettuce eating anorexic category, if you may. I think it's insanely hilarious at how this 'culture' lives..which is why I only do it for fun. I have a day job, I do other things. Modeling feeds my vanity...for after all, isn't that what modeling truly is?

I am doing it to prove I can. It all springs from me losing half of myself over 5 years ago and when I weighed close to 300 pounds. People told me I couldn't...now I am proving them wrong. So it serves two points..this 'modeling' thing. My vanity, and a slap in the face to those who said I could not.

And yes, a part of this stuff is going to charity...I can't go pick ticks of starving children in Africa...but I can do the little bit I can do here...and the little bit I already have done. That is all I can do.

Thanks for the well wishes, but you are right, too.

Fair enough...and good for you. I'm a psychology student myself....

I'm glad to see someone who realizes what the culture truely is like.

    Have fun with it!

More power to her, shes already gotten over $4,500 coming to her out of the deal.
But, my personal opinion of people selling themselves on ebay still remains the same.
