Would you give a ride to a stranger?
Would you give a ride to a stranger?
I used to (particularly p-rockers and others who seemed like fellow travelers). I won't now. I've had to tighten my boundaries considerably in all aspects of my life. I also don't believe I set a good example for my nephew with such tomfoolery.Originally Posted by Amelia G

Sure.
Cause if you fuck with me en-route, you're gonna hit the concrete, hard. At 55mph.
and if they survive they'll have to see a chiropractor, right?Originally Posted by Bikerpunk
i guess if you have a motorcycle you could just give a crazy person the boot but i have a car and well..i wouldnt take that chance..
If you're on the back of my bike, your life is in MY hands. Knife me or shoot me, and you'll find yourself joining me in death as the vehicle I'm in control of crashes.Originally Posted by Senior_Diablo
In fact, pull something like that on me, and I'll take it to 80mph and dare you to do ANYTHING to distract my attention.

Hell no! I'm not too fond of strangers... talking to em' and much less picken them up and talking to them...I'd rather remail lonely listening to the radio or cd's
Not being a driver, the only way I could do is by giving them a piggy back!
fuck no. nor would I hitch hike either.
I haven't had a car for a while, but when I did, I did for the most part. I generally try to use some caution in doing so- one time I was driving out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night and I saw two people with backpacks trying to hitchhike. I didn't pick them up because of the previously mentioned circumstances. I would have if I hadn't been alone in the car. But nonetheless, I felt like a real asshole, and couldn't help but think how much it has to suck being stuck here in this town and being unable to get out.
All the hitchhiking experiences I've had as both a hitcher (few) and a picker-upper (a few more) have been positive. I really hate being a participant in continuing a society where no one can trust each other for anything.
Everyone always says how stupid it is and I have that urban-legend of the murdering hitcher drilled into my head. I know that it has happened, and people say that it doesn't happen anymore because people aren't stupid enough to pick up hitchers... But I don't really know how much it is to be believed.
I tend to agree with the idea that someone who wants to harm me is more likely to do it when I'm walking down the street, then when I'm driving at highspeed.

no. and they make awfull dents on the bonnet to so i've stopped doing that
I don't drive, but I would never.
A woman at work told me the following story: She and her husband were driving along on a highway on vacation, when they passed a woman on the side of the road. They didn't stop, but the guy in front of them did. As he opened the door to let her in, she waved two men hiding in some bushes into the car. The woman and her husband followed the guy, who obviously got more than he bargined for, all the way to the next gas station. As the hitchhikers were forced out, he went and thanked my co-worker for maybe preventing his murder/mugging.
i'll stop if there is an honest accident but even then I just roll down my window to check out the situation...Im super paranoid
well, I only pick up hitchhikers, not carjackers
