I would have to say Exorcist
I would have to say Exorcist
hmm...thats a good one, there's soo many out there, other than my family movies...its a tie between Exorcist & Night of the Living Dead
Haha, I cant see your family movies as horror movies, but I'll have to ask Decending Angel about that.......she's the only one thats seen em.
Evil Dead Trilogy
(although they made an official sequal after Army of Darkness, although that was made in video game format): A Fist Full Of BoomStick
In The Mouth of Madness and The Wannsee Conference
Tough call. I need to see it again (and I found a store near me that has it, so I don't have to order it online) as it's been ages, but it very well may be "Fade To Black", which I mentioned in the "recommend movies" thread a while back. Dennis Christopher plays a psychotic movie geek who becomes obsessed with a Marilyn Monroe look-a-like. All his murders are patterned after movies, too. It's really fucking awesome, from what I remember of it.
Past that: Dawn Of The Dead, Halloween, Re-Animator (Herbert West is the fucking man), Creepshow, a bunch of others...I used to be a total gorehound back before women allowed me near them, heh.
Man, I like all kinds. That's all I was really raised on. My mom is a b-movie fanatic.
I like fucked up movies like Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, Last House on the Left, The Exorcist, House of a 1000 Corpses was pretty good. It reminded me of a 70's b-movie horror flick. I really, really love The Corpse Grinders 'cause it has all the insane kitty cats in it.
Anybody else here like the Evil Dead Series?
For some reason, no matter how many times I watch that movie, it still scares me like crazy.
Uh oh, tough one. Once again, the only thing i can say is: there is no alltime! I've been collecting Horrormovies for the last 14 years (i've got more than 6 000 Tapes, DVDs and LDs), so to ask me, which movies are my favorites, is like asking the father of fourteen children which of his kids he loves most...
At the moment i love: Haute Tension, Dead End and A Tale of two sisters
Thats easy! If the father even really does love his children, his favorite child is the child who moves out first, and stays out.Originally Posted by Preach

i do love the evil dead trilogy but i was left curiously unmoved by house of a thousand corpses. that said it's better than cradle of fear (starring dani filth as the man who is never shown standing next to anyone).
theres a really good belgian serial killer film called 'man bites dog' which made me feel physically sick when i saw it. the honour of 'film i had to take a break to calm down from' goes to funny games (naked city are on the soundtrack) and the only film i ever had to walk out of was the dentist. urrgh.
i think my favourite horror of all time has to be the texas chain saw massacre (the original) followed by the ring trilogy and $la$her$.executions and faces of death will always have a special place in my heart.
I hate the Gore type Horror movies for the most part. Evil Dead was VERY gorey, but they did that ina stylish manner that made the film better, instead of making the film about the gore itself.
Evil Dead is still an amazingly scary classic, well after 30 years
The Exorcist (esp. at seeing it when I was 5), The Ring (having a TV straight at the foot of my bed doesn't help), Japanese horror films (always creepy, and one of which The Ring was based on)
The Exorcist, and The Gates of Hell. The Evil Dead series was very good.
I liked the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I saw it back in the day, and Halloween has to be one of the best ever, but the original Dawn of the Dead is my favourite. The remake was pretty good too, if only for the scene with Lounge Against The Machine playing.

Check out the Japanese Version of Evil Dead:Originally Posted by gonesavage

The Version of the Japanese type has a different ending completely to Army of Darkness
I would have to say Sins family videos >=o) J/k Exorcist, House of 1000 corpses, Evil Dead...
Does anybody remember the old movies youd see on TV when you were a kid? Im looking to find some to add to my DVD/VHS collections. Im thinking of movies like Trilogy of Terror, Burnt Offerings, Lets scare Jessica to death..those kind. If you see them now they seem kind of cheesy, but they were scary when you were a kid, and Im looking for more old titles. if anyone can think of some I should look into let me know.
Not my Fav. but anyone seen the Japanese RING.. RINGU?
Hellrazor 2 spooked me out way back when
that was the trilogy i was referring to. the american version lost all the tension and could someone please tell me how you can be scared of someone called 'samara'Originally Posted by eddy
Audition is pretty disturbing too...
You all need to check out "Session 9" with Peter Mullan and David Caruso. It's the film "Blair Witch Project" wanted to be. It's darky, it's moody, it's brooding, it's excellent. It was filmed entirely at the old Danvers State Mental Asylum, so it's got a setting extraordinaire...
And to those who cited japanese horror: try to get a hold of a copy of "A Tale of two Sisters". It's a korean movie, that's somehow similar in its atmosphere to the Ringu-Series, it's scary as hell and features a variety of great plottwists. A definete must-see!
Evil Dead trilogy rocks. Razor Blade Smile, Subspecies Series, anything by Argento or Fulci
Evil Dead trilogy for sure!! Original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and I am quite fond of Rob Zombie's "House of 1000 Corpses" got to love the @ss on Baby!!
Barney and Friends.
I love Argento and Fulci films, my fav still being The Gates of Hell aka City of the Living DeadOriginally Posted by Jasperino

Cat People (1942) is a must...won't be out for a while though.
I bought it used today (VHS) I wanted DVD, but like you said, it will be a while before that happensOriginally Posted by Tequila Zaire
heres the website for the Exorcist, the prequel thats coming out sometime this fall I believe. I had heard the trailer was available, but Im not seeing that yet on the site. http://exorcistthebeginning.warnerbr...touts_exorcist
Gates of Hell was kinda lame (as was Zombie). sorry for offending Fulci fans. I guess he can be considered one of the greats, but that's only because you can count the number of quality horror directors on one broken hand. My favorite horror movie is probably the original Dawn of the Dead. 28 Days Later was excellent too.
This would take me all night.
