    Default do you have to cook tofu?

    was just wondering that because we got a big block of tofu at the store the other day cus we're trying new things and it's pretty fucking good. but i was wondering being as tofu is like not meat or anything do you have to cook it?

    Nah. It's a matter of personal taste whether you cook it or not.

    tofu is uber versatile. i used it in thai coconut curry last weekend.

    awesomeness. yeah Im actually quite impressed wiht it form what i've had so far. mom usd it in a salad the other night with soba noodles, edamame (which i love) and bean sprouts. I'm thinking of having some with my ramen today and some sririchan sauce on top of it. that stuff is fucking good

    personally, I prefer it cooked. but it depends on what you are using it for.

    okay. yeah we're trying to figure out ways to cook it and sevre it etc. cus right now it's a hell of a lot cheaper than meat is and we're on a budge plus it's better for us.

    if you are going to cook it, even if you buy the firm kind it's still going to be pretty spongey. So wrap it in a paper towel or regular towel and put something heavy on it (not too heavy, you don't want to squash the thing) and let it sit for like 1/2 to an hour before you cook it. that will help get rid of the excess water and make it firm up more.

    it's good with your favorite sauce and then just slap it in the oven till it get's a little crispy.

    I like to fry it in a pan and then put terikyaki sauce on it and eat it with rice and veggies.

    You dont have too, but tofu uncooked and alone tastes pretty gnarly. Simmer it in some peanut oil and throw in some other veggies/some sauces and it'll soak up all the flavors and be delicious.

    sounds good. I'm tempted to try that and maybe thyrough some cinnamon in there too. yummers.
