Default So I'm workin' on this project...

I've started modeling this spaceship for an animation and I've gotten a bit stuck on things.

Any ideas on shit to add to spice up the center section of the hull? I've got a set of cannons drawn outfor either side of the main body, and a plan for some landing gear but the top and sides and shit. I know you creative types can help a brutha' out...

rows of lights down the length of the hull would look really cool, and make it visible to other space travelers in cases like docking stations. I realize a landing craft would probably be sent and this behemoth would be made to hang out further out, but it would still be practical so people leaving would have a plain visual beacon in case of instrument failure. but mostly it would just look really cool.

or perhaps some sort of manipulator arms, or various servo arms with different uses.

Lights are a good call! I hadn't thought of that.

Oh yeah, and to give an idea of scale to everyone, consider the front ramp is about big enough for a van or so.

The windows are going to be done with a seperate materials. You can see the frames for them on the cockpit and the rear turret.

How about an aft observation deck (maybe a bubble on the top side or windows in the rear hull) and rear gun turrets and/or stablizers(whatever those might look like)

...and some racing stripes would make it look pretty nifty...oh, and tail fins never go out of style

Hey Rockwulf, the developers/designers of EVE do some pretty wicked ships and space stations. This is an Armageddon, a very large battleship and your's seems to be more the size of a frigate or maybe a cruiser - but you can get some ideas perhaps from looking at thiers. More screenshots here though not as many ships as I would have expected.

    New updates.

Added docking ring on top. A top bracing rib with more details. Raised hull panels. A couple vents. Some pipes on top.

I still think its missing a cool flame job or a big toothy grin on eithor side of the cockpit.

But seriously, that stuff you added looks apropriate and helps break up that space.

Of course I'm assuming that this is a view of the front of the ship?

That's not the final paint. You have to sculpt everything first before you paint it.

    Yeah, that's the front.

As for who owns the ship, I haven't thought about it since they don't show up in the animation. I know it's a transport, hence the limited weaponry. But not much above that.

How about Communication Antennas, Satalite dish arrays, Solar Pannels, Access Pannels, Some lights out on the ends of Rods(didnt know how else to put it.)....Some things around the docking area that looks like Latches so that when it docks it Attaches itself to the dock....Put some airlock doors on the side or top...

When you paint it Make sure there is a bumper sticker on the back that says "I break for nothing"...Other than that on the paint I would go with Greys with some white accents around the openings and some corrosion around the openings as well...Its a transport...No one gives a shit how they look...Just big bulky haulers kinda like Dumptrucks...

So if that's the view of the front then for some reason it reminds me of the ship from heavy metal

Looks cool with the texture on it...though I still think its missing some racing stripes or space graffiti or something. ...but the rivets and the plates really seemed to be the solution to your delema for how to jazz it up.

    Thanks man.

I don't know if you noticed it, but in the first and third pictures you can see the masthead design I put on there."Racing Stripes" wouldn't look right because it's supposed to be cobbled together from a variety of ships so the paint job is gonna be different in sections, etc. You can see in the third and fourth pictures the red bulkead/crossbar that I put on.

Also, let me ask you folks this, I'm considering making the vents at the back of the engines rotate. It really wouldn't have any "real world" application but it would make the light coming from the engines look cool across the hull and shit. What do you guys think?

it reminds me of a bug in some way

why not add 4 spider legs on each side and make it more flexible space ship capable of visiting planets and easier atacking other ships... you can as well add a spike or something on front for raming other ships... that'll make him look piratish

and why not add a sort of solar sail... you probablly hear of the new technology about solar sails
