Aeon Flux Live Action Movie!!!!!!!!

I went ot go see fantastic four today with my moms for her big 5-0 and while I was there i saw a poster for aeon flux the movie. so I decided to do a websearch when I got home and found very little on it but came across the official site and guess whose the lead aeon herself?



CHARLIZE FUCKING THERON!

An Æon Flux Hollywood adaptation has provoked come controversey among die-hard fans for adapting the original character to a longer format story. After nearly a decade of speculation and rumor, filming began August 2004 in Berlin, to be released in mid-2005. The screenplay was written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, and the film is being directed by Karyn Kusama. The character of Æon Flux is being played by Oscar-winner Charlize Theron. Filming was temporarily suspended during September 2004 while Theron recovered from a neck injury she suffered during stuntwork on the tenth day of shooting. Production resumed in early October. To coincide with the release of the movie, Majesco Games and developer Terminal Reality will release videogame adaptations on Xbox and PlayStation 2. (Presumably this will be a different game than the aborted TV series-based PS1 game mentioned above.)

As is often the case when popular animated characters are adapted to live-action, fans of the series have been critical both in the choice of lead actress and in the very decision to do a live-action version.

They've got a huge-ass booth here at the Comic-Con in San Diego for Aeon Flux. They're giving out T-shirts and bags with the new stylized AF logo. And the clips they're showing at the booth are looking pretty good.

But what really made me happy was the DVD sampler they're handing out to promote the release of the AF shows/shorts on DVD this fall. Finally!

Given the look and style of the original series and what its creators did since then it was REALLY sad to see them choose a mediocre creative team. You don't adapt a highly original and stylized world like those of the original series without the main creator in charge....

I would have much rather seen Peter Chung in charge from the get go.

Joan is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to old these days to play such a role. I had such a crush on her in my youth.

now the new final fantasy movie is something that gets me excited in my happy place :>

I have mixed feelings. Aeon Flux was very important to me and had it's own special place in my memory. Now it's being dug up, packaged and marketed for the masses...hmm. Theron is a hottie, I just hope this doesnt suck ass.... I'm guessing it'll be indistinguishable from Tomb Raider. shrug.

It looked like they took a my fave highly sexually charged cartoon, with MANY fetish themes (aeon was a foot fetish dominatrix for crying out loud) and package it for the Hot Topic youth of today.

Sorry I hate seeing my personal icon bastardized into some limp wristed character who wont even march around with her ass hanging out.

FWIW, I had a friend who made it to the panel/presentation for Aeon Flux while here at Comic-Con (today was the last day) who was unimpressed with what she saw, and added that Charlize Theron was "kind of a bitch."
