Default Do you believe in the Doomsday Clock?

According to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists we're 5 minutes to midnight.

I remember seeing the Buck Rogers movie. yeah, I kinda remember some girl robot Twiki was with/after. He always was a bit of a horndog. I'll have to download the series and see it again for old time's sake.- bidi-bidi-bidi

Yes, I was that young. I had a bigger crush on the woman whatever her name is... I'm too exhausted to remember.

I **always** had attraction crushes on male, female and robots from that age.... I'm NOT just saying that.

its rediculous it has no meaning

    what happens at midnight?

if it is just symbolic then they should have some explanation because it is severly ambigious

is the 12 hour period all of the time of the universe? just the time of man

since it has been in the last 15 minutes for like 40 years it seems to not tick down and ticks back

its kind of like a defcon signal i guess

some think its the ammount of time it woudl take to desctory civilization as we know it or the whole planets destruction?

its basically a meaningless fear tactic

that people seem to think has some deep meaning when in fact it is a worthless meaningless

i could come out with a how big of a bite of cookie do we have left

or how big of a sliver of pie is left

ooh how about how much fuse is left on one of them bowling ball bombs

I knew you'll catch up on that post

It's got to do with our physical existence, simple as this: doomsday -> we die -> no more existing.

I have no idea what's going to happen in 2012. But I know that it's end of this age and beginning of new age. Most likely a good thing for "believers". Now who is real and who is false believer is not up to me to decide.

Thinking negatively will only trigger negative happenings since our thoughts affect everything more than we are aware of. Love is ultimate feeling that can't be defeated and as long as you love you don't have anything to worry about.

Everything happens for a reason and even if it might not seem good in beginning. Under many strange circumstances I ended up in Norway which I never thought of before. And in my short life I met many people but some of them are very smart, powerful and influential all over the world and I can feel that circle is closing. Some people I tough I met by chance actually played big role in my path and now I know that it couldn't be just by accident. Whatever that's coming I know it's coming soon and I sence that is a good thing.

I feel I said more than it's of interest for you but what's written it's written.

Back to topic. If you really feel you're in danger listen to your intuition and do what you think is best for you to do.

    peace

The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clockface maintained since 1947 by the Board of Directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. It uses the analogy of the human race being at a time that is "minutes to midnight" where midnight represents "catastrophic destruction". The analogy originally represented the threat of global nuclear war, but has since evolved to include nuclear weapons, climate-changing technologies and "new developments in the life sciences and nanotechnology that could inflict irrevocable harm.

Extreme pessimism. Doomsday Clock could be the most pessimistically named instrument of time-keeping ever. Not only that it appears that it isn't ever possible to get any earlier than 15 to 12. That's pretty pessimistic too.

I dont think anyone really knows when the world is going to end. I think its possible that mankind will eventually destroy itself.
    In one way or another.

I'm having a hard enough time, just living and trying to pay bills and stuff.
I'm neither in the position to change the earths events, nor do I have suggestions for the person(s) in charge to make the changing.

I'm bound to exist, until I dont.

yes but what is a minute to them? was 11 hours 55 minutes ago the beginning of the human race or the beginning of the earth and solar system or the big bang

because if that is the case i'm pretty happy with 5 minutes it could be hundreds or thousands of years

i could do the same thing and take a picture of a quarter and say its the average wage of a human who could question it because maybe the cents value isn"t really dollars or maybe its the metal value or just symbolic to what bill gates makes

its just to me that unexplained symbology has no meaning

Seeing 21.dec 2012 as a doomsday date is just degeneric view of it by mass repeating. "More time repeated lie becomes truth after a time." I believe doomsday is just a myth and it will never happen.

21.dec 2012. is a more like a new years eve for that big age calender. How much was it, every 25.000 years or something. Just another date.

If anything is to happen on that date then I'm 99,9% shure that it will be caused by persons influenced by conspiracist or crazed religious leaders.

We'll hit our collective expiration point at a date to be determined by mother nature and/or our own hubris. Speculation is pointless. One may get hit by a bus tomorrow. Live as if you will, plan as if you won't.

Yeah, thats the likely reason if it happens.

Wasnt the world supposed to end on 06-06-06?
Thats what many believed until they woke up on 06-07-06....right ?

OilX your profile pic has such enthusiasm each time he thrusts. I cant help but get tickled looking at it... every day, at least once or twice.

I know this is off topic, but I saw a real life Barracuda in Boca Raton Florida. It was incredible, we'd thrown a large tree branch into the water behind her house as seen in the picture. And it drew a lot of different sorts of fish to hide in the branches. It attracted this one huge school of silvery fish hunted by a Barracuda. It was fantastic to watch, I was mesmerized. I didnt know I'd be leaving there as soon as I did or I would have taken more pics than what I did. If I regret anything in my life, its that I've not taken enough pictures.

We had the best time. We walked to the beach all the time. The most beautiful pics I've ever taken were at this location, and my memory stick was ruined in the Florida heat. I've still got the memory stick in hopes someday technology will advance to the point something on there may be recovered.

Click on the pic to make it big enough to read what I wrote.

I always feel a little dystopian, especially after reading the Revenge of Gaia by James Lovelock.
As a symbol of impending doom, I'm not too sure I believe in the clock. Nature has a way of righting itself. I don't believe in total annihilation, I do believe in a thinning of the herd though.

Plus I wanna drive the wasteland looking for petrol.

you got that right. nothing else I sniff touches the sides marauded petrol is the sweetest.

On a good day I feel dystopian... like I'm one of the ones that survives. I imagine a bad day is being weeded out.
