Here’s a new wrinkle on male chauvinism
Italian man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend to get ironing, dishes done

ROME - An Italian man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from a pub, taking her home and forcing her to iron his clothes and wash the dishes, police said Monday.

The 43-year-old man dragged the woman out of a pub in the port city of Genoa, shoved her into a car and took her to his home, where he made her iron and wash dishes after threatening her, they said.

Police arrived at his house after being tipped off by a friend of the woman who watched the scene at the pub.

The man, who was apparently furious at his ex-girlfriend for leaving him, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, police said.

This story seems way to soundbytey. There's got to be a lot more to it than this like he's been supporting her and she's a useless drunk and all he asks is that she do the chores and she popped off to the pub for a pint and he got pissed and dragged her home and she spazed and broke up with him and one of her useless friends called the cops to complicate things and make it an international news story.
I dated a useless alchoholic once upon a time (She was so bad that Scar hated me because I was dating her which meant I must be awful too) and while I didn't have anything quite like this happen I could have seen it happening easily.

been there... it got a LOT worse than that before it got better (i.e. we get on well now that she has a new BF who is in the punishment zone.). This story is honestly mild in comparison. It's not worth going into it... but I'll just say that what happened leaves this story for dead.

but really when you think about it, this guy is totally an abusive asshole, and think about how often this thing really does happen all the time in households. isn't that pretty much the typical abusive dynamic? Do what i say or else I'll hurt you. Of course it's not really about whatever the task has to be, that's just an exercise in control.

Yes I probably agree MG. I hadn't really thought about it to be honest. It's just the relief in this case that causes me to smile as the final slavery acts required were not as heinous as is probably all too common. But anyway it wouldn't have made the news if the tasks were the "run-of the-mill" cretinous abusive shit that don't make a good punch-line. Fair point MG.
