What do you fine folks recommend ?

ones with soles
Combat boots. They're fucking sturdy. (they have to be, those military dudes do a whole fucking lot in em)
Plus, they're extremely comfortable. But the good ones cost a lot, like 100-200 bucks. For a pair of boots. Sure, they're really GOOD boots, but come on.
Have a pair of these I like. Decent quality. http://www.steel-boots.com/
Oh, and combat books always look hot. At least to me, but I'm like... weird and all. >.<
I like e-bay cuz you can always find funky shit.

My Pleasure. They're one of the most promising brands I've come across/bought from recently. Let me know if you're looking for anything else.Originally Posted by Velvet-Tongue

Velvet is for work or just a fashion statement?
I stand on concrete for about 14 hours a day, I get a new pair about every six months or so. If it work related, your like me then. I like to have something is good on the foot. Bates Footwear does that, its made for law enforcement, military and ect. I swear by this footwear...
5.11 tactical is another good boot

Had a pair of blackhawk gloves. Were pretty good in cold weather. Think they were mostly for LEOs. Serious gear.Originally Posted by Bacchus88
I like www.pennangalan.com They can customize fabrics/colors in shoes and boots too!
very well made gears and worth the money to spent on it...I have few vest from blackhawk, I would much rather wear the duty pants and shirt... that is my style, its functional, hardworking and it last....
I have to agree.Originally Posted by mystoo

.... There are quite a few ways to take that, BP.
Here is my favorite - http://www.newrockstore.com/
Suddenly I just read the toic name as "Boobs!" and now I can't stop seeing it.
Halp!
that isnt really a bad thing!
I just bought a pair of Dr Martin hikers and they feel great.
i've usedwww.pennangalan.com a lot, easy people to deal with. last 2 pairs i bought were a pair of grinders and a pair of new rocks of them. both size 9 initially, but i needed a 10 in the grinders and a 8 in the new rocks, they were happy to exchange them for appropriate sized ones.
as to tactical gear... guy on my team recommends his Oakley boots, but he's the posh bugger on the team who never seems to get dirty. Hitech Magnums have been my mainstray for light duty ever since i used to volonteer as a medic on the race circuit. lowa's for mountain walking... hmm comfy but expensive
the problem i have with shoes, is that i have noticed most have the "anti heel" effect, if feels like the ball of the foot is higher than the heel. is this just me?
I used to wear Hi-Tech Magnums ages ago. I wear 14-hole Doc Martens for work and either my 13-hole Vampire Doc Martens or New Rocks when going out.
I've had the same pair of DM's for about 12-13 years now. For work I wear Harleys. SUPER comfortable!!!
Lately I've been going the "cheap" route. I find that with a pair of reusable, inexpensive arch supports, you can buy like 6 pairs of less expensive boots and they'll last as long as the one expensive hardcore pair. But with the advantage of you having nice new looking shoes more often than the one pair of dingey boots I've worn all year.
Right now I'm rocking a pair of basic black steel toe boots from "Smith's" which I'll admit was a gamble since I'd never heard of them. But it's been a few months in and I'm still diggin' on them.
I would second Pennangalan and New Rocks, although they're both fairly expensive.
My first pair of DMs are now nailed to the ceiling of our local DM stockist, as they have a DM graveyard. You get a "toe-tag" so you can say goodbye to your beloved footwear. Afterall, Shoes have Soles too!

Pennengalan's are great, but not super sturdy for the price tag. I have always been a Luichiny fan (for girls), which hold up and you can stand in them for 10 hours. For boys New Rock of course or Docs or Gripfast... shoes make the outfit, so I really say fuck Demonia, unless you simply need a club shoe
Do you keep your boots on while doin the nasty? Just wondering
Is that an open question?
Cause if so... *raises hand*
I don't get why there's so much love for Docs. I've had a couple pairs in the past and they just kind of suck. The soles lack any kind of support or cushioning. The leather's weak and gets scuffed when you look at them funny. And on top of that they're expensive as all hell.
I currently wear http://www.beatwear.co.uk/acatalog/info_654.html but they are kinda pricey, and aren't good for work or anything like that, if you want something more general purpose get some combat boots from your local army surplus store.
My only beef with new rock is the weight. After a long night it can hurt. I think the gel insoles I have for then have been a life saver.

The Docs never had the same comfort to wear all night and I eventually wished I'd just paid a shoemaker to fix my Army surplus boots.
My only beef with New Rocks is the limited lifetime. An average pair lasts me about 6 months, maybe longer if I don't wear them for work. The Soles always split.
DMs in the UK aren't that expensive, and the copany has cottoned on to the idea that people may want silly designs rather than the usual normal boot.

the soft rubber and the weight is their downfall. i managed to keep mine in good nick for daily use for about a year and a half, my previous pair of cowboy boots didn't last that long. and when i was last in Bristol,i called into an old girlfriend and she was still using the pair she had in collage, though now totally worn down to the resin heel.
their comfy, but so heavy.
current daily users though are: http://www.pennangalan.com/boots/FW292.php
only one issue so far with one of the chromed nails holding the trim going awol. fixed easily
I always seem to confuse people by the fact that I can actually dance in New Rocks, and I tend not to choose the lighter versions. I never choose boots lower than the bottom of the calf.
never had an issue with the wieght. most ofmy strength is lower body, unusualll for men
Ended up getting 10-eyed black boots from one-eyes cats link. Thanks everyone for all the links .
I'll post some pics when the suckers arrive.
