Would you ever sky dive? Have you ever done it?

I've done it once. 14000 feet over the east coast of Australia. It was amazing, I'd say better than sex.
The only part that sucked is I did it wearing a Tshirt and when I went through the cloud layer it was like a thousand needles in my arms.
I paid a little extra to get the photo/video package and it was SO worth it. The pics and tape are awesome.
spent 20 years doing HALO... nothing quite like jumping out of a perfectly good plane at 35,000 feet... it is a hell of a rush!
Nope, not on purpose ..lol. I'm not keen on the feeling of falling.
Not yet, but one day I would love to.
*Note to self, don't wear a t-shirt* What are you supposed to wear?
My husband's always wanted to.
Anything with sleeves. Long sleeve T, sweater, windbreaker, whatever's good.Originally Posted by mystoo
It's not like rediculously painful either, the kind of exhilerating pain.
so you wouldn't recommend balls out skydiving?
just avoid clouds... moisture/droplets at 130mph... badOriginally Posted by Morning Glory
No. But I DO want to try balls deep skydiving.Originally Posted by Morning Glory
I'd like to skydive while being suspended. May be interesting ..but may also forget to pull the chute cord...*_*
want to do it.
and wouldn't mind also doing a static line fully kitted to see what my Grandfather had to do
I always said I would go skydiving when I turned 18.
18 came and went.
I will someday, though. Really. I promise.
static line full kit is horrible. i have over 300 static line jumps. 64 people exiting an airplane at roughly 1200-2000 feet is hell especially if it is a door exit and not a ramp jump. all that kit weighs a ton!Originally Posted by Head Wreck
I love taking pictures of the sky... as if there's a code within the clouds. OR SOMETHING, I really love the way the sky looks. ESPECIALLY when I lived in Florida. The sky in FLORIDA is so special.
I would have to be forced into the plane and pushed out. There was a time when I was into the idea of doing things like that. That time quickly passed.
being pushed out is not a problem. Once your legs are out the door, despite what was said at the briefing you ain't coming back inside.Originally Posted by Madam Yummi
I used to skydive, until an argument with the ground went the wrong way. Note - from 2000ft the nice, flat field is nice and flat. You cannot see electric fence pickets. I also had to mop up the results of someone pulling their reserve in the back of an Islander. It was a fun way to spend a few years, but with the weather over here what it is, every 2 minutes of free-fall is interspersed with 5 hours of sock watching.
Morning Glory - you'll be pleased to know there's a generic rule that your 1000th jump has to be performed butt-naked. In so many ways it's not as fun as it sounds. Serious flappage.
yep.Originally Posted by jonny.illuminati

Ive done a static line once and would do it every day if I could. Would like some actual free fall though.
If I didn't have a family I'd try it, but now I try not to do stuff where I could end up as part of the ground.
HA! that's EXACTLY why DB doesnt try it.
Yae I want to do it, but its on the "need money to do" list.
That sucks.
I hope its something you eventually get to accomplish if its that important to you.
AND I hope money isnt a limiting factor.
At the moment it is, namely my lack of a job is the main factor of limitation
i'm with ya! i kept doing it not just because i had to... but because it is pretty fun most of the time... although i prefer HALOOriginally Posted by Head Wreck
hope you get a chance to do it!
my favorite static line jump was the 45th anniversary of D-Day in France. every year American Airborne soldiers get to do a re-enactment of the D-Day jump... and then party like rock stars with the French Townfolks! We even got to jump with some of the original paratroopers from D-Day (old dudes yes but damn it was a blast for them and a huge part of world history)...
indeed.
HALO... dont know anywhere that would allow civilians on a course of that, and the time needed to train.
i did know a guy who did canopy jumps. he was rather barking mad to boot
I would, actually...... I'd deffinetly sky dive before i bungee jumped.
Bungee jumping's way scarier than sky diving. Actually being able to see the ground below you makes it much more immediate. Also, having my ankles bound was not a comfortable situation for me.
yeah, bungee jumping scares the crap out of me.Originally Posted by Rockwulf
It was still fun as hell though and I'd do it again given the opportunity.
I have a slight fear of falling from extremly high places, so no, free falling out of a plane isn't for me. But if I was with a big group of friends, doing something like that might make me feel safer and even a little brave.
My husband and daughter both love the feeling of falling, but me and my son neither like that feeling.
I'm not keen on the vertigo type feelings I get when I look down from a very high place.
I find it so fascinating how ppl differ.... especially in this way.
heh, bit of trivia.
i'm actually terrified blindly of hieghts so much so that when my perents used to say wobble wobble while i was one rung up the ladder i'd lock up. yes i used to climb stuff around collage and the town without any ropes, often using brick cavities. the trick was not going up. but getting down afterward.
an adrenaline rush i savoured
