Wickedanima, I must say, your entry has sparked so much interest.... and questions....

Like do you use the lemon and olive oil together, if not how are they used?
Wet n Wild mineral make up? Have you tried other kinds of mineral makeup?

I've been dying to try mineral makeup, but every info mercial I see, they all look like they've got a dark upper lip, like they've got a mustache or something. I dont know how that translates in real life...
I dont *know* anyone who actually uses the mineral stuff.

The women dont wear make up around here too much..... I LOVE MAKEUP!

I only wish I could afford the MAC! *drools*

What's the rosebud salve, and how much is it?

mac is terriblr for your skin. I use mineral makeup.

as for the topic in question, because of my job, i unfortunately depend on too much in the way of beauty products. if I didn't have this job, and had tp pick one it would be just lipgloss and a good moisturizer. I don't wear makeup when I'm not working.

I didnt know that about MAC, but that's good to know.
I dont wear makeup hardly ever.... my skin is sensitive to makeup.
I get dry patches when I wear it too often.
    Even when I use moisturizer.

How do you like the mineral makeup as opposed to the old stuff?
    I'm fascinated by the concept.
Is it really as good as the commercials say, like coverage, ease of application, and long wear... as well as healthy skin results?

yep. all those things are true. i would never go back to the oldschool foundations. they're junk. mineral make up is way more expensive, but worth every penny.

Do you mind if I ask you the kind you use? I've been using Merle Normans for years... its not exactly cheap, and money doesnt flow to freely round here... so before I make an investment, I like to know what's up.

How long does the stuff last?

    (makeup lasts me f-o-r-e-v-e-r typically)
I'm just wondering what to expect.
I'm really glad that in every other way that the stuff is worth the money, I'm just wondering how it fares with how many "faces" it allows.

I use the fresh Lemon as an on-the-cheap exfoliator. After I wash my face once or twice a week, I put lemon all over my face, let it dry, then rinse. Simple! If it burns too much, wash it. And it leaves your face slightly red, because fruit has those natural acids that are exfoliating away dead skin cells.

The x-tra virgin olive oil is my favorate mosturizer. I don't use it every time, but about once a week with my lemony-treatment, which is all before I got to bed. It leaves my skin very soft and a little glowy. It might not work for everyone, but I love it.

(you can also add brown sugar to your olive oil to make a lovely hand and foot and body scrub.)

Yes! I tried a few samples and it was mostly over-priced and a bit... oddly textured. I've never tried the bare minerals and such, and won't probably. It still seems massively overpriced, and I personally, just LOVE the texture of the Wet and Wild stuff, and the value.

Now I'm going to tell you that I only/mostly use the mineral stuff in certain situations. Its not really 'night wear' kind of stuff that has that full coverage Goth-Tastic Pin up Porcilen vibe. I started experimenting with the mineral makeup because its very hot and very humid where I live in the summer, and my liquid foundation just melts right off. Impractical at best.

I always go back to an 'old school' foundation in the winter time, when my skin gets a bit dryer. Apply it with a damp sponge with a hint of moisturizer, and it will make you glow.

Its a lip balm. You should be able to find it at Sephora.com, or just a local pharmacy. I use it over my light-colored lipsticks and just as a lippy-moisture item. It can also be used on burns, cuticles, and anything else that might require a salve.

I also cannot honestly see how MAC could be any worse for you than any other eye-makeup, which usually contains silica sands, mica, talc, and/or aluminum starch octenylsuccinate amongst other things. The fact is that Mineral makeup still contains things like mica, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, bismuth (a copper/lead possessing by-product that adds the 'glow') and sometimes micro-processing can make elements that would be safe on the skin's surface have a possibility of being toxic to some people on the molecular level.

When it comes down to it, everything can be bad for your face, but sometimes playing with makeup is worth the risk. ^_^

I've been reading that bismuth oxichloride can be very irritating to some people, and most companies have removed it from their mixture. AND the micro processing thing.

You are such a sweetheart. I appreciate ALL your time.

I LOVE extra virgin olive oil.
I add it to my lotion, and I put it in my hair and sleep on a towel. It keeps my VERY fine textured hair from breaking and healthy, and moisturized.

I'm going to give the lemon a try.
I am CONSTANTLY having to exfoliate.
I have predominantly german/ native american background.. and my skin just needs it all the time it seems.

Dern it, cause I was considering getting their Studio Fix and a couple of shadows and liners - what's equivalent to N4?

KMS has a hair wax that I really like sometimes for detail work, but relatively recently they doubled the price and it's kinda out of the range that I think is reasonable at this point. It used to be $14.99 for 2.3fl.oz and they changed the package so now it's only 1.5 fl.oz and it costs about $16.99.

Head and shoulders anti dandruff shampoo.
Its in an awsome pump bottle and my hair settles down after it dries straight away, insted of leaving my with it sticking up at the back cos I forgot to pat it down.

I really like Laura Mercier mineral foundation. It's a bit expensive, but well worth it. It's one of the few that actually comes in a shade light enough from my complexion and the really interesting thing about Laura Mercier is that she started out as an artist. All the brushes are like paint brushes and made of real hair (sorry animal lovers) and they apply beautifully. There is also finishing powder to set the foundation that adds a bit of iridescence too. I used to work for the line as a make-up artist and can attest to the fact that it is real quality instead of over priced junk. Most department store make-up is just as bad as the stuff you can buy at the drug store, just in a fancier package.

Well no, not the actual technique of application, but how to put the various colours in.

I've seen MAC ads that are truly inspiring tho.
