I just saw an episode of that show The Casino and they were shooting machine guns from helicopters. I gotta find out about doing that. I think I'd like it much. Do you like to go shooting?

Have not been in years...don't really know where to go around L.A. that's "safe"...a few places I went to with friends were really scum filled. Lotta gang bangers and similar types...not really a fun enviornment.

But if you know a few places...please share.

I used to in high school, but rarely, if ever, do so anymore...

Mainly because most of the legit places in LA, won't let you blow the crap out of "stuff".
    Just shoot targets. Blah!

The fun thing about shooting stuff, is watching the destruction.

Otherwise it's jist a loud band, and a hole appears in a piece of paper.
    Boring!

You have to bring old computers, tvs, cars, and random junk like that...

I hate sport hunting by the way.
I only like blowing the crap out on inanimate objects.

Hunting for food is ok, but most people in the US don't really need to hunt for food....

Yeah, I have enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a bitch the first time you start shooting rifles, that's what I started with. Should have been handguns first. Quite a kick, leaves a nice bruise!

The first time I handled a rifle, I almost shot somebody in the tush, but that was because the rifle team instructor kept pulling the gun.

Mmmm, I love shooting, I like wepons with a good range over all. My friend lives up in the mountains and he lives next this crazy old vet, and he bought a Barret M82A1 .50 cal. from him (for thoes who don't know what that is, it's a reeeally big sniper rifle that was orriginally made to take out targets through light-medium armor. It's range is 2,000 meters.), GODDAMN that was the funnest shit EVER! We got it to go through 2 oak trees, an old school bus engine block, and stuck partway through a cinder block, and that was at about 800 meters, WOO! YEEEHAWWW! The only downside is that the bullets cost around $10 a pop, and you have to buy them in feild boxes, which is about 50 bullets... think about it. But he was a rich little bastard, so it was no problem for him... I've been trying to get my hands on an M24 SWS 7.62mm tactical issue... Not nearly as godly as the .50 cal, and they're kinda old, But have a long range and pin-point accuracy... I know I'm probly giving off creepy high-school killing vibes... pfft... It's just a passion......... Unless someone pays me.

I'm kind of a sissy boy but....

I served in the marine corps for 6 years and my fondest memories were taking a big-ass gun to the range and shooting or blowing shit up.

Taking a Mark-19 (a big machine gun that instead of bullets, shoots grenades) to town on a target is SOOOO much fun.

Hmmm, I think in LasVegas they have a nice range, maybe next time I'm out there I'll do some machine-gunning...

I Love that weapon...never had the chance to fire the real thing though...only in video games...but I've seen what the real deal can do and it is a thing of beauty.

Oh yeah... love it... lots of fun.

In my previous professional life as a hired gun (private personal security)
and pistol marksmanship champion, I enjoyed many weapons
    legal and otherwise.

Desert Eagle .50 cal matte black
    Desert Eagle .357 matte black
Smith & Wesson .357 brushed nickle
    Colt .45 ACP Gov't Issue 1965
    Beretta .380 ACP matched pair
    Taurus P-22 .22 cal

I just went a weekend ago with a friend and took lots of pictures. He has an AKA and a Reuger. It was fun, more in the "wow, that makes a really loud breaky noise" way more than the "shooting is a serious sport" sort of way.

Yeah! for the right to bear arms!

Here is one that I have had my eye on lately. Oddly enough, there is a story on them in the current Popular Mechanics. I've allways liked the Heckler & Koch designs.

Here is one that Amelia seems to be very excited by as well:

Those are very nice. I thought about getting one a number of years ago, when I lived in D.C. A little expensive, but worth it.

Very worth it... every dime. One of the best competition handguns I've ever owned.
Living in D.C. you almost need one... coming from Detroit, I know how it is.

I have to admit the $1800 for the Desert Eagle .50 was a bit more than what I wanted to pay,
but being one of the first in the country to own one and being the ONLY one to have one at competition was worth it.

Of course the $35 box of 25 rounds makes it not one for plinking.

In a pinch, there's nothing like a cellphone pistol for ultimate concealment.

My best day in army... when we go on shooting range and practice with some crazy guns like agl (automatic granate launcher) operated just by one man

it's like 50 granates in one minut.... and each have killing power in radius of 7 meters..... line range 2000 meters.... range from shooting in air (over hills) 4500 meters....

or black arrow.... sniper with 11,7 bulet stoping car on 5000 meters.......
when we got to practice we hadn't special target.... captain said just shoot, on wathever you like... and I did powerfull feeling

I don't know if my shoulder has ever properly healed from learning how to shoot a rifle, but it was fun being a 7 yo girl holding a wepon bigger than I and firing blanks at a tin can on a stump in my dad's back yard. From what I remember I was a crack shot too, with the hand gun as well. Nowdays it's prolly a good thing I think guns lack class or the local undertaker would owe me alot.

Even though I have been told I have a "dead-eye" (have never missed the few times I have handled a gun, even a 12-gauge with one hand) I don't believe in guns (and the following is NOT intended as an insult to the gun enthusiasts here) my personal opinion is that anyone who would use a gun in a personal conflict is a coward. Whatever happened to throwing hands? Now if your reason for owning one for home is for home protection, then I can agree with learning to use one. I also do not believe in "sport hunting", there is no "sport" in shooting an animal from 1/2 mile away.

I agree with you... and coming from Detroit, I wish there were more people with the same mindset... but unfortunately there isn't. Its a fucked up fact when you have police out gunned by street thugs, but gun control hasn't been a success either because then you end up with only the criminal element being armed and not responsible citizens (not saying that ALL gun owners are responsible nor criminals)

At the same time I don't believe in going into a knife fight with a stick, I worked in the field of personal armed security (bodyguard, bail bonds and bounty hunting) and when met with the decision of even to pull my weapon, during my time I've been involved in two shootings, getting shot twice and stabbed twice as well but have done more than my fair share of hand to hand combat.

The thing that gets me is 'home protection', over the years I have instructed many gun owners about this... and when you have someone who comes to you with a rather large caliber semi-auto, you have to question the motive. A .22 caliber will kill someone just as dead as a .50 caliber. And in the current climate of overcrowded apartment complexs and other such living arrangements, with anything much more than a .22, .25 ,.32 or .38, you are likely to end up killing or injuring someone else besides. Not to mention most homeowners end up shooting someone they know, either loved one or housemate by 'accident', thinking they are an intruder.

Having Ted Nugent as a former neighbour probably has warped me and my senses a bit about hunting, I don't believe in 'sport' hunting.. for the trophy but more for the population control and food value. I would much rather have a clean quick kill of a deer to eat through the winter than have a family of three killed by hitting it crossing the highway. Poachers should be hung by their nuts (or whatever tender bits they have to be strung up by) as well as the 'sport' crowd.

    No insults taken or given.
Just my opinion and we all know they are like bungholes, everyone has one.

I live in a civilized society and I pay professionals to bring me my protein in the supermarket. But I'm 5'1". Any grown man who wants to come at me with fists could certainly be called a coward. Except for the part where he'd get a bullet for his trouble.

I agree with you Amelia, a woman has every right to own a gun for her own protection. What I was referring to is people who would rather use a gun to settle a dispute instead of being a real man/woman and fighting up close and personal instead of shooting them from X distance away. I am not advocating absolute gun control, just commenting on the lack of honor people show these days.

Totally agree with you that honor is an important value. For settling a dispute, I think people should talk things out and make a genuine effort to understand the other side's point of view. A lot of people just get angry when proven wrong though. Heck, I've had people scream at me when they convinced me of their view and I capitulated. And that is why the great equalizer exists. Also, target practice is fun.
