Yeah, I know. But I have been..My brother is a failure. I have gone to college, got a degree and good grades, I have a job and I make enough money to support myself and then some. Still doesnt seem happy though with my choices..perhaps I will never be good enough for her unless I am what she wants me to be.

My mum spent alot of time trying to help me be normal, but that is because I have Aspurgers Syndrome. I think she did the right thing, espically when I see people like my girlfriends brother who will never be able to move out or do most of the things I can do. She helped me with everything from social skills to motor functions to speech therapy, and the sad thing is that in some ways I am still restricted. When I go in for a job interview I have to let them know about it and Ihave seen prospective employers get this look that says 'Oh crap, what do I do?' then even though up til that point the interviewer has been majorly impressed I just know I wont get that job. I have nothing but respect for my Mother because of all the help and support she has given me, and for the fact that She values me for who I am.
My father supports me on a smaller scale and is much harsher but thats just him. He cant wrap his head around me so to speak, but he tries.
My older brother is an ass hole though. His idea of helping me was to take me out to the backyard and try to beat me into being normal. He stopped after I won the last two rounds, know he wants to join me in Karate, but I doubt he could stand being taught by a "retard fuckwit"

Your mother just wants you to be miserable because she's fat and unintelligent and her son lives in her basement leaching money from her constantly. She probably thinks that since she suffered through conventional life in misery that she wants you to do it, too. It's kind of like how the matriarchs in African societies will circumcise the younger females because they had to go through it. Perhaps that was a bad example. Anyway, I know that's how my dad feels about the situation. He wants me to go through the hell he went through. The hell that a mainstream lifestyle promises. Well, screw that. Or perhaps, our parents are just self-righteous and really think they are correct. Can people really be that stupid and selfish? I just don't see why parents can't be happy with how their children choose to run their own lives, so long as they are not hurting anyone or stealing or engaging in otherwise, objectively detrimental behavior.

I am not whining, and where in every post do I have those words except possibly in this thread and maybe one other where it was *relevant* to the discussion? Obviously I do not ask them to take me to the mall, I dont even live in the same town as they do. You are most obviously a troll and I dont take your opinion very seriously, but its also obvious that you have no idea what I have to deal with concerning my mother, even though Ive clearly tried to explain it here in this thread. So, if you are not a troll then you must be quite dense. I have a problem with my mother criticizing everything I do, especially the way I look. Now tell me, how do you equate that to whining? I simply asked for opinions on what I should do about it, I did not ask people to criticize me as a person because of the simple fact I posted the thread in the first place.

I think an awesome parent, to both Valerian and I, would not be one that acts like a best buddy, but rather at least *refrains* from telling us how to live our lives when we are grown adults. I think Val is talking about parents that would let their child express themselves however they wanted to while they are growing up, while still guiding them enough for them not to make mistakes. Then as adults, they would just mind their own business, unless their child was doing something completely stupid, which in that case they would offer up some advice.

How else do you expect me to refer to the masses? Should I not hold them in contempt? I am a firm believer that human soceity is a waste, and it is because that people like to congregate in mindless drones. It is why I am a misanthrope. And I am going to express those feelings when it is relevent. In this post, it was relevent.

And awesome parents are people who accept their children for who they are, especially when they are in their twenties. Seriously.

Wellllll....How do you guide them not to make mistakes when they already think you are? The thing about parents is this.....They are not you and you are not them. This confuses the living shit out of them because they don't get you. Once they don't get you, it's all downhill from there. Your mom already thinks your making a mistake because you are different from her. My best advice is to listen to what she says and really TRY to see it from her point of view. If, after listening, you think it's all shit then go on with how you're living. If any of what she says makes sense than change. BUT, if you actually think that one day she is gonna up and totally understand you....You're sorely mistaken. It'll never happen. Never. She's just from a different generation. Grew up different than you and in almost everyway due to the "times".

Yep. Ive realized that. I pretty much decided that I was just going to ignore it. She knows I hate it when she says shit like that, and eventually she shuts up. I guess we really will never see eye to eye. I have already listened to her complaints and they are all relatively shallow, she just doesnt like it that Im 'weird', pretty much. So, I'm just gonna let her do her thing and ignore it and maybe, eventually, she'll stop trying to change me.

lol thats not the first time I have heard this. It might possibly be because we are with each other so much. But, we definitely are not the same person. This is what makes for some epic fights..very infrequently, but still. Val is a lot more eloquent than I am, honestly..Im much more...crass? Im also less able to get out what I want to say in writing, Im not very good with words. Since Val's a writer, well, he's way better at it than me!

Yes, I like her. Hah. I don't know why I chose her lips. I could not really think of a better avatar. I don't like having full pictures or even portraits reduced to 100x100px. That just bothers me. So I needed something small that was also interesting, and I think using an eye is just a bit too cliché for my tastes.
