How influenced are you by how someone dresses? Do you give more respect or trust to people who dress more like you or less like you? More or less affection or appreciation?

As long as your clothes don't reek of something awful then I really couldn't care less how a person dresses. In my experience I've found there isn't much connection between how a person dresses and weather on not they are someone I'd get along with. Really the only people I avoid based on how they look are the homeless people because most of them around here are nuts and really easy to spot based on how they look.
when I'm working I don't really care because I'm usually covered in lots of dirt, but after work well it's different. I don't care what people wear so long as they take some care with how they present themselves to the public.
I do my best not to judge people based on looks since I myself look like I just crawled out of a wreck half the time. However I probably do give more respect to people who take care in how they present themselves without noticing.
The only way clothing matters to me is if it's something rediculous for that person. I'm not talking goth or prep or anything like that. I'm talking about grossly overweight people trying to fit into a medium shirt or a pair of pants way too small for them. Or ugly chicks who wear stuff to accentuate things they don't have or wear shirts with slogans about beauty.
What I'm wearing varies so much from day to day, it'd be pointless taking any heed of how similar someone else's outfit was, unless I was wearing scuba gear and they weren't.
The problem with "dressing to impress" is that even if you do it everyday, folks will always assume it's just dressing to impress until they get to know you. At that point, what you're wearing ceases to be relevant.
To say that clothes don't make an impression is just plain silly. Of course I take notice. I strive to not let it influence important decisions- like a person's grade for instance. But the fact of the matter is, you can learn a lot about a person from the way they dress. Is this info always right? Of course not, but it does give you some idea of their likes/dislikes.
For example, if a person walks up all gang attired out, hell even if they just have their cap on sideways, I can be pretty sure we have absolutely nothing in common and therefore nothing to really bond about. And I certainly don't find a man like that attractive. On the other hand, even if you have "standard issue" on at the club- that's pretty hot. If I see someone wearing Melodias, I automatically know that we have A LOT incommon and can talk the night away (those are dance pants).
I wish more people would dress like MC Hammer
Shortly after I posted I checked out the new Neurotically Yours episode, which happened to deal with fashion... So, because of my love of all things Foamy, I am using my one time ad link thingy.

I never trust someone in a suit.
Not that suits aren't snazzy as hell, but that middle-manager, Vice principal suit always puts me right in an angst spot.

There isn't enough money around here for me to be plagued with Mall-rat scenesters. Anyone with money is from Florida, so they still kind of dress like late-80's yuppies and are well worth judging by the way they dress.Originally Posted by Amelia G

Remember guys to never fall in love with a porn star look alike.
What someone wears says a lot about them.
Even if they are wearing totally casual, boring clothes, that tells you they are a laid-back person who doesn't care about looking good all the time.
It all depends what you are looking for.
My opinion is that it does not matter, as long as they have interesting things to say, and have cool and creative ideas.
But I do tend to be more drawn to people who dress and look a little crazy, because that shows me that they aren't concerned with what society thinks. And I tend to prefer people with that kind of outlook on life. But that doesn't mean that some very normal-looking person couldn't be amazingly interesting...
Styles and styles... One thing I learned in my life is to not judge people by they clothing. But I noticed I too get attracted by a little bit eccentric clothing styles
I'm going to start wearing Hawaiian shirts. for truth.
