Default How much force does it take for a pillow to break a window?

    Could someone answer that?

I did that today. I broke a window with a pillow, and was wondering how fast, and with how much force it takes to break a window with a pillow.

It depends on the size of the window, the thickness/strength of the glass, the weight, density, and velocity of the pillow, as well as the position of the impact.

I'd say roughly 20 miles an hour, by my calculations.

    Press pillow against window.
    Press hand against pillow.
Lean body, shifting your weight on the arm holding the pillow.
See how long it takes before the glass cracks.

    ... well?

Wowza. I'm going to regret throwing that pillow when I get the bill for the repair

Btw: It like hit it in the center, I'm going to say at around 25-30 MPH. The window broke in about 10 or more pieces.

Im not sure, but I found out how many whacks against the wall it takes to bust apart a geriatric diaper filled with aftershave.

We were drunk and bored. But we got some great pictures!

i serve tables and i was checking the salt shaker to see if it was full. i tapped it against the pepper shaker like i always do and the salt shaker shattered and made a huge mess. i think the salt shaker took to much of a beating in it's life time... do you think that's what might of happened with your window? how many times have you thrown the pillow at the window? and why did you do this? were you just tossing it out of the way?

I'd imagine it would take a lot of force. As pelelka said, your window could've been quite worn out from years of getting things thrown at it and not breaking. As I don't know your window, I couldn't say.

Oh I was throwing it at my sister... o.o Guess I missed, by a FOOT.

The window hadn't recieved alot of beatings I assume, as the window is about 20 years old.
