    Default Digital Women

Wired recently posted an article about Miss Digital World contestants. For those who've never heard of it...it's basicly a beauty contest for CG created women.

The wired article is here: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/1...w=wn_tophead_4

Now...make sure to check out the contestants. What I'm curious to see is when the day will come when say adult sites could pretty much do entire content based on virtual models. They could pretty much do anything given the falling prices of technology...it won't be long before render farms could be in ones closet.

Now I don't feel they will replace real women but you do have to admit they WILL make an impact in the coming years...I'm pretty excited about it though one has to wonder where the line will be drawn since virtual models like these technically don't qualify as real people. That may sound like I'm stating the obvious but virtual models have already caused problems with "taboo" pornography laws around the world and could push it even farther.

Unlike photorealistic art of old the potential for true interaction with these creations is not too far off...next generation video game consoles are already starting to tap into the idea...though the japanese do have a pretty long history of interaction with virtual models ranging from adult these PS2 games to lil pocket creatures.

The virtual woman is a popular sci-fi theme but it's strange to see it play out so soon.
