I think San Francisco went into a time warp after the earthquake. With the Marina still on fire, I drove a few friends in my VW thru town and ran over 100 stoplights. We drank white zin and listened to pop songs until dawn. I have spent my entire adult life trying to come up with an existential meaning to that night. I never even considered slowing down the entire time. The next day we stole a rare iguana. That night was so surreal. We were not on any substances, either.
