    Default Cheer Up

What are some of your favorite ways to cheer up when you feel down?

Can never go wrong with a Conan quote.

Music has always been a mood lifter for me, especially when it's uninterrupted. So usually when I was living off campus, I'd have the headphones on and just went to school. Even when it was below 0 outside, I still felt my mood was lifted.
Video games just leave me in the same mood.
Also if I haven't had enough sleep, I will be very pissed off.

Interesting factoid discovered by doing a little web research:

The Conan quote was lifted from a previous text.

GENGHIS KAHN: THE EMPEROR OF ALL MEN, pages 106-107:

One day in the pavilion at Karakorum he [Genghis Kahn] asked an officer of the Mongol guard what, in all the world, could bring the greatest happiness.

"The open steppe, a clear day, and a swift horse under you," responded the officer after a little thought, "and a falcon on your wrist to start up hares."

"Nay," responded the Kahn, "to crush your enemies, to see them fall at your feet -- to take their horses and goods and hear the lamentation of their women. That is best."

I would have guessed Conan too. What a wonderful historical factoid. Thank you.

The Zaporozian Kozaks to the Sultan of Turkey
Thou Turkish Satan, brother and companion to the accursed Devil, and companion to Lucifer himself, Greetings!
What the hell kind of noble knight art thou? The Devil voids, and thy army devours. Never wilt thou be fit to have the sons of Christ under thee: thy army we fear not, and by land and on sea we will do battle against thee.
Thou scullion of Babylon, thou wheelwright of Macedonia, thou beer-brewer of Jerusalem, thou goat-flayer of Alexandria, thou swineherd of Egypt, both the Greater and the Lesser, thou sow of Armenia, thou goat of Tartary, thou hangman of Kamenetz, thou evildoer of Podoliansk, thou grandson of the Devil himself, thou great silly oaf of all the world and of the netherworld and, before our God, a blockhead, a swine's snout, a mare's ___, a butcher's cur, an unbaptized brow, May the Devil take thee! That is what the Kozaks have to say to thee, thou basest-born of runts! Unfit art thou to lord it over true Christians!
The date we write not for no calendar have we got; the moon is in the sky, the year is in a book, and the day is the same with us here as with thee over there, and thou canst kiss us thou knowest where!

I go to the dog park and play with doggies. I eat something really yummy. I go cuddle with my hunka-hunka-viking-love.

Playing ball with my kittycat, followed by a tuckered out snuggle session. He's so loveable and always cheers me up!

Spending time with my husband always cheers me up, so that doesn't really count, because I'm rarely down if I'm with him. Sex helps too!

Oh, and dancing around my apartment to some really upbeat music....like weird Al, or disco or something...always makes me feel silly and happy!

Writing, band practice, painting. I have this wall in my room that I'm covering with quotes and song lyrics, painted right on. Whenever I'm angry or upset, I go add to it.
Of course, my boyfriend helps, or sometimes just talking to people.

Jack the Ripper had It made, Killing Prostitutes and never being caught, not even by Arthur Conan Doyle. One day I'll be as good as him.
Anyone see the Conan link there?

No, but you haven't got 25 posts yet, so it isn't quite going to work.
