    Default Moving to LA

I prefer to live in Hollywood. Does anyone have any specific location suggestions? Something under 1000$ a month, where I can walk to everything pretty easily. Any suggestions and comments appreciated.

All I can say is good luck. I dont know many things within walking distance for that price, unless you want to risk robbery and mugging every time you walk out your front door.

NOHO is a nice place. Look on an apartment locator, Ive found some nice looking apartments for pretty good prices.

My condolances and yet I envy you. I miss LA immeasurably. The nearest Starbucks is a 20 min drive from my house till the new one goes in nextdoor to the Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach. ( I came away from LA with an addiction to Iced Mochas. Don't laugh, many people come out of LA with addictions, at least mine is relativly harmless). Walking distance is a tough one though, go for walking distance to the nearest bus stop.

yah its really hard to find some place nice for $1000! any place that is walking distance to anything for that price is going to be very GHETTO, especially in hollywood. i like keiko's idea, find some place close to a bus station. LA traffic is aweful! if you are familiar with LA and street smart, then living in the ghetto parts of hollywood is what the full LA experience is all about! chances are im going to be moving to long beach because rent is cheap, and the drive is not too far.

Actually, the best way to start out living in LA, is with roommates.
Because good places that are not ghetto are expensive, it is better
if you can split the rent with someone. If you can spend $1000/mo,
you will enjoy sharing a nice 2BR place that runs $2,000/mo.
You will be able to find a better place, in a better neighborhood.
Then, if you are doing well, working, and know the area better,
then you can get a place of your own...
