    Default Spike Milligan

Does anyone else like his poetry?

i just bought a book of his poems called 'small dreams of a scorpian'
    he's really good.

    Onos
we have cracked the midnight glass
    and loosed the racketsing star-crazed
    night into the room
the blind harp sings in late fire-light
your hand is decked with white promises
    what wine is this?
there are squirrels chasing in my glass
    good god! i'm pissed!

i preferred his radio show in the fifties. not that i was around to hear it originally, but it's been endlessly repeated, and i daresay if you went looking, you could find episodes online somewhere.

he was a pioneer of humor in his time. his war diaries are fantastically funny to begin with, but by the last volume you could tell the strain had taken its toll.
