Do pet names like pumpkin and sweety pie nauseate you?

Oddly no...the way I see it once you get to a level in a relationship where you start calling each other that without WANTING to be sappy or cute...you got something a bit special.

usually- I've done the "baby" thing- but I can't take it any farther than that.
Its weird- it kinda became habit and I didn't even realize I was doing it eventually.

I would be hard pressed to say those things with a straight face. I say "baby" wouldn't go much past that. Occasionally, you do come up with a nickname that has some sort of personal or humorous connotation. I use "dear" in a different way than most.

Well the reason i'm called "sweety" is just because we know it makes both of us want to vomit and it's kinda funny at the same time so i've taken up calling him Pooky just in spite even though i can't do it with a straight face. But calling people dear, darling ,babe, or hun, don't bother me because they are my normal terms or indearment twards people i'm close too, like my son i call him hun or baby boy, but that's a whole different story. I mean the kinda pet names that are just uncalled for like "muffin cakes" or "puddin"...maybe it's just me.....

Oh hate hate couples that call eachother honey, and all the babytalk. But the YUCKIEST is when really ugly couples kiss on the subway.... EWWWWW!

My boyfriend calls me the names of cereal. Like "my little grapenut". Yeah, we're odd. I like pet names, although I never say them in front of other people. I'm not really affectionate with people in public, because it annoys me when I see couples being all lovey dovey.

I'd like to see couples use exotic pet names like "You're my lil Clanwilliam Redfin". This way as they go on and on with their public displays of affection we as those forced to hear it can learn about endangered or exotic animals.

I call my boyfriend baby, sweetie, sugar, honey, darlin, handsome, and muffin. He in turn calls me all of the above and kitten, rootbeer flavored dum dum ( ) and other things. We do it for fun and we just spill out a word without realizing it. It's nice to be called sweet names, lol.

I usually don't do it in public though. It's not because I give a rat's ass about what anyone thinks, but what I say to my boyfriend is, for the most part, for his ears only.

I think if your bothered by it your bothered by having a realtionship. Usually in relationships there comes terms of enderament, aslo it depends on if your parents called you nicknames and stuff as a kid. There are worse thing to be offended by in any type of realtionship then silly pet names.

Hm. I honestly don't know where I came by the habit, but I have a habit (which has gotten me in trouble a few times of calling women I know 'doll,' 'love,' 'sweetheart,' and stuffs like that. Not neccesarily dames I'm in a relationship with, but also friends, which is how it's gotten me into trouble...perhaps it's because of too much Sinatra and British comedy. *shrugs*
