3.Yes I do hold that as an example, getting a good job is something positive. I didn't state that there were any other songs on the subject, I simple posed why can't there be?

you did not post the question about why can't there be songs about getting a good job. you stated that it was sensible to hate fred durst because he doesn't sing about something that not one single person you can think of sings about. if no one does it why does it make sense to hate him for also not doing it?
I'm not a fan of his music, it just doesn't appeal to me. When I read the e-mails between him and Paris a couple of weeks ago, he seemed like such a wanker.
1.I'm not the one that needs it "proven" to them, I really care less.
2.You're arguement was stereotyping that most do not have access to good vegan food. That isn't an arguement, the avaliability is the same to everyone. You don't have to be over 18 to buy vegan food. What you are doing is trying to divert your arguement into being malnourished, wich isn't part of the arguement at all.
3.Sounds like a question to me.Originally Posted by Camby Savelle
4.I'm tired of discussing this with you. You don't read my posts thoroughly & disreguard any of the points I make. You're too concered about being right to think you might be wrong. If you wish to respond, please take a second look at the things you say.
i'm happy to admit when i am wrong. i fact check for a living so i have to be concerned with what is actually factually correct.Originally Posted by Camby Savelle
a band encouraging teens to be vegan is not a positive example. teens who are vegan are much more likely than teens with an average diet to be malnourished and have stunted development. the availability of vegan food is not the same for everyone. teens are generally not the household members who determine groceries. that is not stereotyping, that is just the structure of family in America. people in california have much better access than people in say ohio. where do you live?
You guys are going off into specifics, instead of seeing the main point.
The main point is that artists can encourage and promote certain behaviors.
If a star sings about fucking everything that moves, without a condom,
and talks about how cool it is, then the young fans will often follow suit.
Yes, it's Darwinism, but I do agree that it would be *better* if artists
had a more social agenda. Rage Against The Machine is a good example.
Even an artist being angry at life, and at society, makes people question
the idea of going along with the system. Sometimes it just helps to
hear that other people feel the same way you do. But when you
sing about nothing but nookie, bling-bling, etc, then it gives a
pretty shallow message to the fans of the music. I like all
kinds of music, and I know that all music has fans.
So regardless if it is techno, metal, rap, etc, it is
preferable to have a message like Public Enemy,
rather than Easy-E, even though I like both their music.
I'm all for freedom of speech and artistic expression.
But I still have every right to think someone looks like an idiot
when they talk about how cool they are, how much bling-bling
they have, or how many hoochies they banged last week.
I might LOVE the music, but the artist looks like an idiot...
That just my opinion.
Odd you say that because I was born & raised in California & I currently live in Ohio.
I don't find there to be a diffirence in access, only some in price.
I Generally don't care about him. **
very well said. i actually hate limp bizkit. i just thought camby's critique made no sense. yours makes complete sense.Originally Posted by TheDeathKnight

Generally, people like to pick on the guy who is at the top of his game, as Durst was in the 90s. Definitely not a fan, but some of their songs rock pretty hard. And no one (especially considering the topic of this thread) is more qualified to sing "Behind Blue Eyes."
Top of his game? When the fuck was he EVER at the top of his game? His music was the shit frat jocks played as they fucked drunken half passed out high school girls.
Lol, theres a country song that sings about 'take this job and shove it'. Wish I could remember who it was and the rest of the lyrics, but its catchy;pOriginally Posted by karyn
No publicity is bad publicity. He has no talent like the many pop bands created from the 90's up. He does what any celebrity or pop band does, he looks, acts, and sings by what sells. The more dramatic or ruthless, the better. It's all about making money anymore. Nothing is really about the art of music. The music industry is falling at insane speeds. I find maybe one or two songs half way appealing and that is only music wise. I could care less about his lyrics because like someone else said above, he sings about the same things constantly. After Wes Borland left the band, that is when all artistic mind and a lot of fans abandoned Limp Bizkit. I think the majority of their fan base are 10-13 years old; when children are becoming teenagers and have little experience with music and are highly influenced by anything that is rumored to be cool. Sadly, some people never explore music, they just listen to the radio their whole lives.
