I know that's not what a free market means but I think it's a misnomer and that it's ironic because it is in fact a very limiting and constricted system.
when people hear buzz words like Communism and Socialism they tend to think of them as some far off utopian ideal or else some evil cold war machine that threatens our way of life, but the fact is that these thins are very much a part of our daily economic system. The Government does own many businesses, and while they also allow for private ownership or business, they also control many aspects of those business from regulatuions to licenses, to goods that may come from the government to exchange in other systems that are also government regulated. and as far as socialism goes, well our tax dollars do got toward social welfare programs, and most of the goods that we manufacture are developed for public distribution ( although not free or equally)
