    Ummm...

Okay, I hate to be jerky about this, but:

    1) new viruses and spyware show up every day. If we announced every one, we might as well devote a new forum just to that topic.

    2) serious viruses and spyware will get covered by entities like McAfee and Symantec, and your virus/spyware software will should get automatically updated to detect new threats (unless it's not auto-updating, which would be bad, and you should fix that).

    3) The vast majority of malicious code threats require the user to actually trigger the infection by downloading and running a program or script. So don't do that.

    4) Your bank isn't going to send you an email asking you to re-enable your access.

    5) I like my iBook.

Once I get my money transfer from my friend's bank in Nigeria, I'll be able to afford to replace my computer every time I get a virus, because I get them all the time, just from looking at adult websites.

P.S. If this Support.com site is responsible for spyware or whatever, please don't go there, get yourself infected, and then be all mad. The stove is hot when it's on too.

    hah!

One thing that I found really upsetting, tho, was reading (an adult webmaster board) once and reading a huge thread about success rates of dialer programs. First off, people still get tricked by that shit? Secondly, what kind of asshole TRIES to trick people with that shit? They were SO callous about it. ugh.

i've never been fortunate enough to be attacked by these. i think. what do they do - get your machine to dial another ISP? what happens if you don't have a modem connected? do they bring up a dialog box saying "please connect a modem and plug it in"?
