What kind of cake do you enjoy?

I just has the yummiest cake. I had a kind of surreal experience yesterday involving Samuel L. Jackson which made me think about this delicious layered berry whipped cream cake. So today, Forrest and I and another miscreant from the boards here went to go acquire some of my favorite layered berry whipped cream cake. The place was packed, so I ended up reading restaurant reviews on the walls and looking at their fruit tarts. So I got the berry whipped cream layer cake and a fruit tart with rasberries and kiwis and blackberries and a lightly sweet custard and I also got an absolutely amazing tangy rasberry cheesecake. Wow, do I have some tasty leftovers in the fridge right now.

I'm not a cake guy by any means to be honest. I prefer Pie's or ornate pasteries that look like they can kill me with their goodness. I have no particular favourites but most involve pineapple or lime and lemon. Anything in that family I dig.

Favourite place to score such deliciousness is a place in Glendale call Porto's, it's a cuban bakery with excellent...well everything really. You name it they make a damned good version of it. I go their for lunch a lot mainly...been going their for years so I know the menu pretty well and love the variety.

I try to minimize carbs because they aggravate my CFIDS but I do love any pastry stuffed with something. I love everything from specialty bakery eclairs to midnight Krispy Kremes with artificially flavored goo in the center.

When i indulge...i love anything with strawberries, blackberries and chocolate...and i love a homemade lemon meringue pie....YUM! There is a german bakery here that makes high end pastries and breads...they make a streudel to die for!

Almost anything with chocolate or strawberrys or better yet both. Unfortunately we don't have a "real" bakery in this town, but both grocery stores have a decent bakery dept. in them.

I love German Chocolate Cake, Nepolians, and Canolis amongst many. My two favorate places for confectionary were this really neat little Deli/Confectionary/Diner in Great Neck Long Island. They had the best Black and White cookies! The other was one in Montpelier Vermont, right next to the Ben and Jerries. They had really really lovely chocolate torte, and fruit tarts that were out of this world.

My uncle told me that the Cheese Cake Factory in Hollywood is the BEST! Is that true?
