TREE-TRYST BOYS: WE'LL BE GOOD
By LAURA ITALIANO
March 23, 2005 -- A lovestruck teenager who created a public spectacle by climbing 30 feet up a Central Park tree to canoodle naked with his transsexual sweetheart was sentenced yesterday to community service — most likely back in a city park.
This time, though, Christopher Montero, 18, has vowed to keep both feet on the ground.
"I just hope there's not many big trees around," Montero joked after pleading guilty to one of last year's most bizarre public spectacles.
Montero was back in Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday to, in effect, bough out of his legal woes by agreeing to the stint of community service — for which the vast majority of assignments involve park work.
With him for sentencing on their amorous, arboreal antics was his co-defendant and "fiancé," pre-op transsexual William "Billy" Rund, 33 — who sports a cubic zirconium engagement ring, courtesy of Montero, and A-cup breasts, courtesy of a daily estrogen pill.
The happy tree nymphs — or, as cops claimed, nymphos — got in trouble last April. That's when they climbed three stories up an evergreen tree, stripped to their underwear and allegedly began having sex, threatening to jump and pelting cops with profanity and branches.
Rund yesterday got three years' probation for misdemeanor endangerment of the cops at whom he threw branches. Afterward, he explained, "I did it out of love."
