Default Sex, Politics, Religion, and possibly your dreams

There are certain topics which old time etiquette manuals would suggest one not discuss. Personally I think not being able to talk about anything important is an unnecessary obstacle to figuring out how you feel about complex and difficult issues.

I want to foster the open exchange of varied viewpoints here. I don't think I know it all, so I like to hear what other people think. Even other people I do not agree with.

The thing about freedom of speech is that it means sometimes you are going to hear an opinion you do not agree with. But most places on the web you have to express the same opinions as everyone else in the digital room or you are totally ostracized. I think that is no way to live and no way to treat one's fellow man.

I know that this means sometimes I will hear someone say they favor the UK approach to firearms. I believe the US fought a revolution to not have to do it the UK way. But I'm not going to freak out and call someone names if they express concerns about firearm availability in America. It is a tough issue. A complicated issue. I have an opinion about it. A much more complex one than I've outlined here and I think it is correct. But I'm still open to hearing what other people have to say.

I'm not going to get enraged because I hear a viewpoint which is not identical to my own. Not everyone thinks what I think or how I think and I am aware of this and would probably be bored if everyone did think exactly as I do. I believe that sometimes I can change someone else's mind on something important if I express myself to them.

I expect people here to be willing to listen to other people's opinions and ideas. This does not mean necessarily agree or get your mind changed in any way. You can even make posts which express vehement disagreement. But please no name-calling. Even if you are screaming, "idiot, idiot, idiot" at your computer screen when you read a post, please explain your position or concern in your response instead of typing something rude. You are more likely to make your point if you just say what you mean than if you jump to conclusions about someone else and call them names.

Not every post needs to be about a hot button issue either though. I am also quite happy to talk about the new Nine Inch Nails or Sin City or Pixie Stix.

I like sex. Alot. And being without my fiance is stressful.

This wedding coming up is a money sink, and I almost wish I had just elloped.

I sometimes wish the outside world was like Mad Max, that way I could kill people and get away with it, providing I had enough firepower.

Sometimes I think money is the fruit of the devil.

I really really get emotial to music. Violins and cellos can make me cry. The theme to Schindler's List has done this several times.

Often times, I REALLY wish D&D was real, and that I was actually an adventurer who could do something and make a mark on her world.

There's so many things to consider in life, and so many things happen during a lifetime...but most of the populace will never know what it's like to be a part of history, or what we consider history.

    ...what.

    Okay, I'm tired.

*Shrugs* I agree with you, though I think some basic rules might be needed, or helpful

Same over here. Enya can make Me cry on occasion. * Jumps into nearby bunker. *

I TOTALLY agree. We should start our own Adventuring party.

I like to hear viewpoints other than my own. Lately tho, all I see is hyperbolic nonsense in lieu of any reasoned argument. I see people whose entire worldviews are colored by hatred for certain religions and peoples. There are no rational arguments to made to counter such views. Essentially, there is no basis for conversation.

Dude, don't be like one of those punk rockers who always have to say things used to be so much cooler and can't support a band once it gets successful no matter how much they loved it when the members were sleeping in their cars. As the Blue Blood Community grows bigger and bigger it will take new people a while to get totally comfortable with the culture here but there is no other place on the web I feel is worth posting. This is the only board where I feel I can express myself freely and where I enjoy what other people have to say. I like it that new people get guidance here on how to be cooler without being called names and made to feel unwelcome.

I was probably sleeping at a girl's house and not in my car as I had no car but the idea is the same.
