    Default Habeamus Papaver

...it's official: The Pale Galilean has got a new representative on earth -- and he's German

So all my cardinal-sin-celebrating was in vain; I apologize to the rest of the world for sending you this guy: He's a hardliner and won't change a thing. I'd rather would have given Ilona Staller my vote, she doesn't bore people out of their pants, at least....

I must have a smoke, I'm outta here

it's ok, you don't have to be sorry. The pope has nothing to do with me whatsoever, the most signifigant effect the last pope had on me was dying, and that's only because I couldn't turn on TV without seeing it. I don't care if hitler is the next pope, just as long as he has as much influence as the last pope, which is none if you're not a catholic.

Im not catholic (im not even religious) and allthough it doesnt effect me dirictly it does effect everyone. the cathlic church is basiclly a mafia. well orginized, self policed, influences on many levels in world affiars, and keeps everyone in the dark about the truth. I think a new pope is something everyone should think about.

    Exactly... It *does* affect everyone.

    Why?

Because if the new pope keeps telling Catholics that they can't use condoms or birth control, then all those catholics will keep breeding, and breeding, and they will greatly contribute to this world's population problem. Go down to Tijuana if you want to see the effects of catholicism. Poor families, with 10 starving children... Why? Because the pope says they can't use any birth control...

    People *slowly* figure it out.

That's why a lot of people in south america are switching to other faiths.

They have lost a lot of membership down there, because the people
realized that if they just keep having so many kids, those kids will starve...

isn't he supposed to be a transition pope or something? Getting an old guy in there to die so that a younger person could take over?

I am very disappointed that this guy is likely going to preach more of the same birth-control-eschewing, sexually-repressive noise that his predecessor did. I am about as far from Catholic as one can get, but still, his blatherings are going to have some effect on society. That is, he's going to help hold back human sociological evolution.

    Exactly.

Although it is true that he is a LOT older than his predecessor, when he was installed. So he won't be around for a long time. And then maybe they will decide on someone new. I mean, they have to look at things like the molestation scandals, and look at the decline in the number of preists, and followers, and realize they need to do things differently, if they want to maintain their power and position... You know, I am not at all against religion. If people want to believe in god, jesus, heaven, hell, etc, that's fine. But they have to move into the modern world. They have to look at things like birth control, etc...

This Pope is only like him regarding social stances. He was a Nazi Soldier captured by the US during WW2. He deserves a chance to prove/disprove himself, but I think there were far worthier candidates. I do not see him as someone who can fight tyranny.

I, for one, never said the last pope was any great hero...

I think he was old, set in his ways, and unable to move into the future...

Guess one of the big reasons for the molestation scandal in the USA was?
The old pope would not change his views on letting preists get married.
So the only people who can be a preist, is someone who says they will
never have sex. And so guess what you get? A bunch of closet homosexuals
and child molestors, who really *want* to be good, and want to be free
of their sexual urges, so they join the preisthood. It's a lure for people
with sexual issues. A way to escape. If they allowed "normal" men to
join the preisthood, and allow them to have sex, and get married, then
you would have a hell of a lot more "normal" preists, and less freaks
who are straining to stay celebate...

I do not care if the old pope did some good things here and there.

He still told all catholics that they can't use condoms, etc...
So guess what? More catholic babies, and more catholics with AIDS.

Get with the program, get with reality, and maybe then I will consider him a hero.
Until then, he's just a stuffy old idiot, who fucks things up for a lot of people,
when he *could* be helping to improve the world...

I never agreed with the last Pope's social stances either. I had no illusions that they would change with this Pope. This Pope simply lacks the redeeming qualities of John Paul II.

I'm tired of Popes & popstars without a voice & sexlife...
It's the attention the medias give them, the fanclubs, churches and sheepish followers that make me agro...
