Do you like seeing bands play live?

I used to go to a whole lot of shows every month. It seems like it is not as many now. I used to go to arena shows, but, once I'd seen a few really good shows in small rock clubs, I was sort of forever spoiled. A really good band in a small packed club of people who are into it is one of the most fun things I can think of. A lot of elements have to be right for it to really work though. Do you like seeing bands play live? In big venues? Small venues? In between?

Small venues. I'd rather get up close and personal with the band. I just saw Rush a couples weeks ago... but it was a huge concert, so I didn't get to meet them.

I saw them on the Power Windows tour and that band was so HUGE in my world then and I was kind of disappointed seeing them in an arena.

i like small chilled out venues like the medicine bar in birmingham - hang out, natter to whoevers playing. it's kinda cool.

I prefer smaller venues myself also..
Mostly beause all the bands that play in my area I know personally
from various sources outside their bands.

I've gone to a few large auditiorium concerts and I have mixed feelings about them. Some bands play very amazing and vizual shows in big auditoriums, others just look lost and out of place and aren't pleasing to watch at all.

It's probably more about what they can do with the space given.

I perfer smaller venues too. The intimate setting gives you a better chance at seeing the band and experiencing their music.

And I absolutely hate festival shows. All they are is a big waste of time and money.

There are a few bands that I try to catch every time that they are around, such as Metallica or Aerosmith (even thought they tend to play arenas only -- it's worth it if you can get good seats). I loved the Sisters of Mercy concert that I went to few years ago. Ministry also puts on a great show live. And I am really looking forward to the Faith and the Muse show next month.

I also listen to all kinds of music -- so when I am in a feel-good-jump-around-lets-get-sloshed-mode I like to see the Young Dubliners, Fenians, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Rugburns or The Poxy Boggards.

I hate seeing any music in which you need binoculars and where it takes you 20 minutes to walk to the bathroom. I prefer small venues & respectful audiences.

best concert I was ever at: 1999 Sanatarium tour: Metallica, Korn, Powerman 5000, System of a Down, and kid Rock. (Baltimore Ravens' stadium) on the 4th of July.

My undergrad had a small venue, but considering it was in Dela-where? no major acts played it. I like the closeness of small venues, but not the limited types of acts. I would LOVE to see Metallica and Korn again.

Bands at Thrash of the Titans:
Anthrax, SOD, Exodus, Vio-lence, Forbidden, Heathen, Death Angel, The Legacy (Testament), Flotsam & Jetsam
Thrash was possibly the greatest metal concert ever conceived.

I like going to a bar here called "The Brew House" They let a lot of local and upstart bands play....Sometimes the bands are shit...But everynow and then you get to hear some really good music... Went to a show the other night there and a band called "False Life" Was there....Those guys rocked the house....They do no cover songs...all original music wrote by band members...I hope to them take their show to the top...

I have a lot of respect for a group that does their own thing....Anyone can learn to play others songs and walk in their footsteps...But it takes talent to step out with your own material and make new paths....
