    Default Clothez

Ah clothes...always a fun hunt but lately it's been a headache from the 1st circle of Hell. A while back the "metrosexual" look bit a few guys and clamped down on many of the "Indie" scene (careful when calling it a scene since it's not a scene in their eyes and everything is indie). All well and good...it was nice to see men be prettier than girls. However some of us in the male population fall in the middle of "Not pretty enough to look like a girl" and "Not stereotypicaly male enough to pull off the juiced up jock look". I hate wearing caps and I don't want my hair blinding me...so what's a fella to do when he's sick of the typical t-shirt and jeans look and he's not quite into the "looks good in a club but not day to day" look? I'm lucky in that I don't have to wear a suit and tie but unlucky in that everytime I find something I like my size is out of stock. I've pretty much given up on any mainstream shop...they're all ruled by teen girls these days anyhow...so it's back to hunting around smaller shops and interesting clothing sites.

We've had many threads like this in the past that have produced little interesting info...so either you're all naked or unwilling to share your clothing haunts. SHARE DAMN YOU!!!!!...hehehe...

I can't be the only one hunting for new clothes at the moment...so share and speak of your favourite places, makers, designers, or tricks of your own personal style...you never know...you may inspire some interesting ideas.

I'm all for making your own stuff...but I can't sew worth a damn and all the stuff I like personally would require me to become a woman (seriously...chicks have the coolest clothing options in every damn category).

Hope this produces some good places or ideas...cause I know some of you out their are looking for new clothing ideas.

I like alot of girbaud pants, they have a wide varitey of styles.

Lately, I've been less into fashion and more into what feels comfortable.

I like getting T-shirts custom made. If you supply the shirt yourself it costs less, and I just get a bunch of cheapass black ones from the clearance sales in Missisauga and get cute things put on them. Most of the time they're work-safe, and I get to be creative. That and I can't find a shirt with the Heartless symbol on it anywhere.

I don't know if I can really help you. I'm a "reach hand under bed, find fluffy thing, wrap around nudity" person myself (unless it's important, then I get frilly). I'm sorta checked by being overweight AND poor - there are a lot of really neat, plus-sized clothes out there that just cost way too much. I shop online sometimes, but when I buy something, I want to wear it like THE NEXT DAY, so yeah.

    my entire wardrobe consists of:

    2 plain white cotten t-shirts
    1 grey, 1 black plain cotton t
1 each of the following band T-shirts:
    Charles Bronson
    GBH
    the Exploited
    Motorhead
(I actually only like one of those bands, and it's CB. so if you see me don't ask me if I like any of the other bands, or tell me how much you like them.)
2 kids shirts purchased at thirft stores for a dollar

    1 pair of black shorts
2 pairs of gloria vanderbilt jeans ( one ripped up from skating, the other in good conditon.) one stolen from Sears, the other purchased by parents $$$.

1 pair of adidas samba shoes that I've had for almost three years, which replaced the pair of converse I had for 5 years which finally disintegrated when I loaned them to a bum that walked all the way accross town in them.

Well I gave the ole interwebnet a shot...oddly enough you find cooler accessories than actual clothes...if you're a guy that is...who does not want to pretty anyhow. Did find a few places that made some very interesting pants...lip service even had a few though most of it was over the top club wear. Then again I'm not into shiny clothes.

I forgot who posted the Plastik Wrap link a while ago but thanks...very cool stuff. Too bad what I wanted was out of stock...though they did have some nice arm warmers.

I was amazed how 99% of "alternative" clothing stores sell the same crap...and by crap I don't mean Lip Service knock offs but stuff that says "Punk" on it or other cheesy shit like "Anarchy"...not very creative to put the actual word Anarchy on a t-shirt...if it was a band tee or something it'd at least make sense.

Again though all the cool shit is overseas...the UK and Japan had some beautiful stuff...too bad the shipping fee would assassinate me on some of the stuff I wanted. Ah well...the hunt continues. Next up..."local" shops.

my Anarchy shirt doesn't beleive in the authority of your GAP shirt. each peice of cotton, polyester, rayon, yes, and even wool too, to the best of thier ability, to the best of thier needs. One world, One shirt.

I know a number of people in LA who buy most of their clothes in Tokyo and of course half the fetish divas look to Germany and the UK. I've been feeling frustrated lately from a clothing perspective. I haven't had the time to do the resconstruct-something-from-the-thrift-store thing and I agree that a bunch of the current so-called punk rock stores tend to have stuff too homogenized and sort of low end and teeny bopper to be of interest to me. I love shooting fashion too and there haven't been many designers who really excite me lately. These things go in cycles though. For guys, right now I think Hugo Boss and Kenneth Cole are making some really nice (but really expensive) stuff in blacks and charcoals and grays. But those tend to be wardrobe basics, not really the bonus special item that makes you feel rockin'.

Generally i'm in black jeans and black short sleeve shirt (Dickies) with a black Tee underneath, complimented by my ever present Combat Boots. And the only place I enjoy shopping for clothes is my local Army Navy Surplus.

"(seriously...chicks have the coolest clothing options in every damn category)." And this is one statement that is painfully true.
