    Default Game Junkies Unite!

Well these days it's pretty safe to say most of us grew up with some sort of gaming system or spent time at local arcades. Now these days arcades are all but dead in the U.S. (sad sad sad thing that is) but video games are alive and well making as much as the movie industry nowadays.

So I'm gonna guess some here play SOME sort of video game...be it old skool classics, cutting edge fresh out of the overn titles, or simply a handful that never get old.

So what games do you play these days? or did at some point? or will once some precious time is found?

I'm a loyalist to Squaresoft SNES games. So Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 are the shiznight for me.

I think I have had, and still have most, all systems that were ever put on the market, except for the dreamcast, but the original SNES was the bomb diggity

Freeware games, surprisingly-- namely Liero and ADOM. Liero is a version of worms but life-action, and ADOM is a fun roguelike with a thousand different controls, spells, items and monsters, with 200 starting class/race combinations.

    BLASPHAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha...I loved the SNES version. Had a solid story, real time battle system, great characters, and as true a cyberpunk feel as the core game evolved. I think the genesis version is a better representation of the pen and paper game but the SNES version is great in it's own right. I had a great summer playing that...I still have it...mint condition only missing the packed in poster that I WILL find one day.

It had some amazingly cool missions...I still play it every so often when I want to spark some ideas about atmosphere.

Dont get me wrong i really liked the SNES version but i always though the genesis version was better in terms of gameplay it still has the real time combat and everything and i though the gameplay was more involved to me and i liked the Genesis versions story a dit better but i do really love the fact that the two versions are completely different games with different storylines and im really pissed that the 32 bit Shadowrun game never made it to the US to my knowledge (unless it came out on the 3DO or jaguar)

My dad used to play the Intellivision with me all the time. Baseball was our game! I remember reaching level 8 on Mario on the NES when i was younger.. and thought that was the coolest thing mainly because i did it with the NES Advantage! Then the gameboy and SNES sooned followed.. i think i played my SNES for WAY too long. i couldnt wait to get home to it after school. Then the N64 came out and ended up buying that as well! So im a gaming junkie yes. I find myself playing ROMS on the comp al the time or my Xbox. (How long way's we've come since the days of 8-bit!) I still travel to the vacant arcade every now and then in hopes to find old school platformers instead of all these fancier versions. Granted they are nice and add eyecandy but nowadays its "can i beat that game?" instead of "i need the high score for respect"! Being a gamer junkie myself i dabble in the creation of making my own games as well (granted most of then are porno games but hey.. you gotta start somewhere
Currently Im making a horror game based on the idea of twisted pictures. So we'll see lol...And thats my 2 cents on this topic

Here latly I have become addicted to Online RPGs Such as Torn City
The Mafia Boss and Pimpin Down Under

But my old school roots cry out to me....I still have a working Atari 2600 and I find myself drawn to Pong (I'm tha Man) Missle Command, Defender, Asteroids, Berserk, Pac-Man (The OG Pac-Man)
and all the other Atari games of my youth...

I have done so much personal repair work on this Atari system that I will never get rid of it...I love this thing...I just like to play the games then crank the Puter up and look at how far we have came on the gaming frontier....Going from Pong to Doom3 is a HELL of a jump...Its great...Cant wait to see what the future holds for us Junkies..

Asmodeus: I joined Torn City like a week ago. Whoa. I play that, The Reincarnation, Project Rockstar and Kingdom of Loathing online.

My PC sucks, so I'm mostly limited to older games. Hence, I heart abandonware. also I like older PC RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, so on and so forth. I love RPGs and strategy games; set them down in front of me and I'll give them a chance.

I like pen and paper RPGs, too. I play D&D (with my heart going to the Planescape campaign setting, Eberron second), used to play Call of Cthulhu (finding players around here is murder), but otherwise if you throw the rules at me and don't mind stupid questions I'm open to whatever.

I love Resident Evil 4, KOTOR I & II, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Jade Empire, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia (all of them), and of course, I have DDR for my xbox. ^^ Once I get some money, I'd like to get Silent Hill 4: The Room.

I fond of DOOM 3 myself, but I've been thinking I need to give Halo a try. I remember my first video game...a plain keyboard shaped console with 2 reostat knobs on the front, one for each player. Pong, some stick figure cowbot shoot 'em up, and damn....I can't remember the third. Something equally simple. It was hot shit at the time and just had come out.
As far as pen and paper stuff....damn I was THE geek! Years later I got really fond of running a horror campain using GURPS. Throw in elements from "good" b-grade movies into a "real world" setting and make players start out as regular joe's....watch 'em scurry and run! Lots of stuf in it from the Phantasm flicks...slightly modified, of course. Played Cthulhu a bit...still remember the basic rules for characters: 1-if it is smaller than you are, has tenticles and moves....shoot it; 2- if it's the same size as you are, has tenticles and moves, you and all your friends shoot it and if it doesn't die run like hell; 3- if it's bigger than you, has tenticles and moves, just run like hell.

At the end of the SNES version their is a hint at Shadowrun 2...but these days the rights are with Microsoft. A fact I learned when a mod team I was on was told to stop production of a shadowrun mod we were making for UT2K3.

Hopefully Microsoft does something with the property...someday.

there is a shadowrun 2 in Japan i think it came out on one of the 32 bit systems i dont know which one though since so many companies made 32 bit systems its hard to keep track of where some of the 32 bit generation games ended up

remember going to the local arcade and playing the large quarter gobbling games, then hoping that they would put them on a home system, and when they did, it was nothing like the arcade version?? Pac man on the cooooin op was so much better than the atari, but damn if it wasnt still fun to play. but I always had two games I wanted on NES, Shinobi and elevator action, which were My fave, then one called time pilot, but as a twist of fate, there was a package deal on the gameboy sp, that included some old arcade games, kung fu, gyrurus, and time pilot. its nice that they are just like the old arcade version, but man, the screen is sooo damn small , Thanks Nintendo for putting out some of the best classics even if they are game boy versions.

Nope, it's online only. I got in on the public beta and found it to be the first online game I enjoyed playing. Typically, nearly all online games I played just seemed to have a bunch of jerks running around.
